Absolutely, I totally get where you're coming from! There are certainly a few movies out there that I feel didn’t get the love they deserved from the wider audience. It’s always cool to meet others who also appreciate those unique gems that didn’t quite hit it big.
One of my top underrated picks has to be “John Carter.” It caught a lot of flak for its marketing and box office performance, but I genuinely think it's a fantastic adventure film with so much going for it. The visual effects and world-building are just spectacular, and it definitely deserves more appreciation. Just revisited it on a streaming service the other night, and it was as good as I remembered.
Another one is “Waterworld.” Often cited as a flop and ridiculed for its cost, I actually really enjoy the post-apocalyptic ocean setting and the adventurous vibe. It’s like “Mad Max” on water, and Kevin Costner nails the mariner role. Watching it from the comfort of my couch really lets me appreciate the craft put into it all the more. |

Last night I finally watched Inside Man — can’t believe I slept on that one for so long. Such a clever heist movie, and the way they planned everything down to the smallest detail was insane. It actually got me thinking about how in the real world, especially with online transactions, companies have to be just as detailed with payment fraud prevention. Otherwise, someone always finds a loophole. The movie keeps you guessing right up to the end — definitely one of the smarter thrillers I’ve seen lately.
