I haven't really been involved in chat much for the last year. I lost my job so wasn't sitting at the computer all day, and life meant I was only appearing at odd intervals anyway.
Some of you also know I have been battling cancer - not all the hardships that PeteC went through but unfortunately this dragon-cancer is a particularly aggressive beast and fast-moving. The clinical trial I was in failed to help, and at this point I have run out of any good options to tackle the cancer, so will not be around for much longer.
The SST and wider 24/7 community has been part of my life for many years, and I am glad to see it still going, even as different people come and go. I have enjoyed your company and requests, whether in the forefront of the discussions or just lurking around behind the scenes. Generally it has been a kind, friendly place (as much as it can in these contentious times) and I hope it continues.
I'll probably still lurk a little, and will be talking to Morg from time to time, but I wanted to say a short goodbye and let you all know.
Best wishes to you all, and maybe sometimes, when Whooo is played in future, you'll hear the distant flap of far off wings. _________________ If you can't stand the heat, don't tease a dragon |

Hi Dragonel.
Times change, and so do people. Nobody can be here on SST forever or all the time. But the door at SST seems to always be open when one wants to stop by again.
I'm really saddened to hear about your cancer. It’s a harsh and unfair situation, and I truly hope the time ahead treats you as gently as possible. Wishing you strength and as many good moments as you can find! _________________ Who is General Failure and why is he reading my disk? |

As Gandalf said: No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it... White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
Wishing you all the strength in the world, Dragonel! _________________ "Speak for yourself, Sir. I plan to live forever." Cmdr William T. Riker - ST:Generations |

I've started this post several times only to abandon it. We haven't interacted much, so...
Words feel cheap
Silence feels evasive

Dragonel,
I am saddened by your message, and even though I have not been around the last year I do miss battling out a good Whoo (now I've gone and forgotten what I used to call it) queue. Words are never enough.
Your Whooish friend,

Just wanted to let everyone know that I received the news a little bit ago that Dragon has moved on past the veil.
Let us remember her fondly, knowing that her, Cinder, PeteC and others are having one hell of a party together. _________________ “Without music, life would be a mistake.”

if no one had said it in the chat i wouldnt not have known about this and my eyes are extremly teary right now. Only a few days ago a friend of mine died after a hard battle with cancer. And now i read this, dragon. This feels so wrong. I had it a while back and lucky me could fight it down because of my youth but every cancer death around me feels like a mine detonating close besides me. We did not know each other in person, but if theres internet in heaven i hope you read this message and know, i am feeling this! Rest in peace!! |

Unfortunately, we didn't know each other personally, but it was always nice when dragonel came into the chat and gave out “dragon hugs,” and it was always very pleasant to chat with dragonel.
I was very surprised by the news today, as I unfortunately didn't hear anything about it.
It makes me really sad. I hope you are well, wherever you are now.
Rest in peace, dragonel. _________________ "Let's say the biggest mess in the whole world is lightning - then being tied to you is like standing on top of a mountain in wet copper armor during a severe thunderstorm and shouting, "All the gods are complete idiots!" |

It is always so unreal when i read the news of a SST-member that has moved to the cloudy place.
I also didn't know dragonel that well, but it was always fun to meet in chat and... well...chat.
Thank you for letting us know, dear Morg. And it is wonderful to see all the beautiful picks in the queue requested for dragonel.
Like others already said, have a wonderful party up there with Cinder, Pete and others. And maybe you even can give the far-too-soon gone James Horner a tight hug.
RIP Dragonel, you will be missed... |

Goodness, that's tough news. For some reason I didn't really believe her when she said she would not be around much longer. Rest in peace, dragonel.
