E for Effort, maybe? Most folks don't even bother to attempt the fix, so I'm impressed just because of that.

If anyone is interested in comparing this Varese Sarabande album to the one already at SST, you can see them at Soundtrack Collector:
http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/catalog/soundtrackdetail.php?movieid=2683
This is a score that every serious soundtrack collector should have, and if you are a John Barry fan, it is a must-have. It is arguably his quintessential romantic score, and one that every music critic and Barry-lover recommends.
That said, my only reservation about replacing the MCA version already in SST's library is no longer having the familiar album cover art that we are all so familiar with:
The newer VS release is 10 minutes longer, has 10 more cues, and purportedly better sound quality, although it does not have tracks #4 and #8 of the current CD. They both contain Rachmaninoff's 18th variation on Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, which is the thread that binds the film and Barry's score together. And they both have John Williams' version of the theme for the end credits. |

oooh thanks for the heads up! I do agree that is an excellent score! And honestly has had more longevity than many many scores over the years. I am surprised at the places it comes up.
I'll have to see about adding this to my wish list... Think I'm going to start suggesting friends just give VS gift certificates! |

I notice that some of the selections in Jerics Library have songs removed. We could remove the ones that are redundant? that way keeping both but not having duplicate cues? _________________ "Well behaved women seldom make history"-Laurel Ulrich 1976 |
