Alright you punks... as you can all see Jeric (with some generous help from Sensei) has brought back our beloved ratings system.
Now I have a little message... more of request actually, from your ol' Uncle Cocmeister.
When the old ratings system was around we had a bit of a problem.
People would see an album they didn't like with a five star rating and say, "Five Stars!? What the hell!? That should have more like Three Stars!" They would then promply give the album a One Star in the hopes of bringing the average down to where it should be, at Three.
This isn't how the ratings system is supposed to work.
If you see an album with Five Stars that you think deserves only Three, then please for the love of god give it Three. Not One.. not Two because you'd feel guilty giving it just One... just give it the number you think it deserves, so we can have a real average instead of a weighted one.
And keep in mind that by giving an album 5 stars you're saying it's one of the very best on the playlist. We have half stars now too. So if there's an album that has 85% tracks that are best of the best and 15% that are el stinko, you might consider giving it a 4.5 instead.
That's all. Yippee kai yay, have fun and don't do anything I would. |

Now... what I'm talking about is stuff like this:
(taken from the chat)
Monkeyhead: Ok I'm giving this ST one * to deter from requests.
jayblalock: LOL
jayblalock: I just did that too.
Wait... wait... here it comes...
Ahhh... that's better.
The CD by the way was Sex-O-Rama...
Not that I'm biassed or anything. |

You need to learn that people always think for themselves on the Internet mate, and are too lazy to read. ;-) Whining is so much easier.
That is why I love the number of votes is seen next to the stars. A rating is trustworthy IMHO when it has more than .. say .. 20 votes. I assume the Top 20 will be modified to display only ratings with a minimum number of votes in the near future. |

Thanks Sherlock, but I don't think you meant "FOR" themselves. |

Sex-O-Rama is getting one star because that what it deserves. It's pure novelty crap. If you have less than one star I would gladly select it. However that's my oppinion. It had a 5 star rating, which you would agree is not a 5 star soundtrack. |

Does every ST begin with a 5 star rating or does it show nothing? That could be confusing to people if they think it has 5 stars when in reality it hasn't gotten any votes. |

Correct, all albums start out with (novotes.gif ) and if you hover over the stars you will see [No votes]. You can also hover over the stars displayed for albums with more than zero votes, and you will see the current rating with max two decimals (like 4.45). It will only display 4 if the rating is 4.00 though. Happy rating! _________________ Who is General Failure and why is he reading my disk? |
