I know this is CLASSICAL music but I really liked having it on SST. I especially LOVE the stabat meter track. At the suggestion of BuyerQueen, I decided to make a formal request poll!!
So do you guys want it back?

I suggested it, I didn't "request" it. I voted No. Sorry.

I missed the reason why this was removed. But its a soundtrack for a movie... not sure what the problem is? Many soundtracks have used classical works, take Master and Commander for instance.
Or... as is currently playing:
Green Card - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Clarinet Concerto In A Major: Adagio (English Chamber Orchestra)
Anyway, my vote is YES.

We are removing almost all classical works from SST. Many are going to Adagio.FM. Amadeus will be there but only the songs that are not already in the playlist and as more are added eventually the entire soundtrack will be removed BUT all the music will still be there. _________________ I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. it is a film score, is it not? why should certain soundtracks be relegated to adagio.fm simply because their music is classical? can soundtracks be comprised of classical music? obviously yes. and are not soundtracks what is played at streamingsoundtracks.com? i don't understand the segregation.
of course, feel free to pull all of the eighties soundtracks you like, i won't fuss. |

Well, whether Film Score or not, I wouldn't have anything against it remaining on SST, since Adagio.FM surely is going to have complete recordings of those Mozart pieces and therefore no sampler album may be needed... _________________ If our music survives, which I have no doubt it will,

Well, this poll brings us to the very often discussion of what should we find here on SST.
There are the classical pieces, the songs, the dialogs, and so on.
If I like to hear all styles and, more than that, I think that the best things in soundtracks is to hear all and nothing, from well-known songs to unknown music we wonder where it comes from, I understand that the admins may fear that the queue can sometimes looks like 1980s or adagio (not sure about death.fm, though )
I'm confident in the ability of the listeners to choose an appropriate queue, so it's a yes for me, and a yes for all tracks that have been used in a film. (But nothing from "inspired by" Baaaaah) _________________ There is no problem that can't be solve without any solution |

I also voted no because (and we could argue this all day long too) the music was not written FOR the movie, it was written waayyyyy before the movie. At least Eminem's song "Lose Yourself" (which won an Oscar) was written for 8 Mile. Yet, that's not here, and I don't want it here. I'm just trying to point out the difference. Just my opinion (and we all know what they say about those).

I'm taking the same approach as the 80s songs. I don't want much redundancy across the 24seven.FM stations. Since I think people are most likely to think of Amadeus as Classical Music than the music from that movie in 1984, I feel it's more appropriate to have the music at Adagio.FM.
Also, as I've stated in the Symphonic Pink Floyd thread, I think if someone tuned in to SST for the first time and heard Mozart, they are inclined to think "this sounds like NPR, isn't there a soundtrack station that actually plays soundtracks out there?" then goes elsewhere. _________________ "Are you not entertained?
