Here's a new game for all you film music enthusiasts out there...

The name of the game:
"What's The Score?"

How it works:
A short audio-clip is provided. The players have to name the soundtrack and the composer that this audio-clip is from. An extra-bonus-point is awarded if you can even give the name of the track Wink

Please abide by the following rules and keep the Fair Use Policy in mind (e.g. see here: http://www.bridgew.edu/library/ipr/guidelines.cfm):
  • the audio-clips must not be longer than 10 seconds
  • the audio-clips must be in MP3 or WAV format only
  • the audio-clips should be listenable online (without the need to download them first)
  • the audio-clips should contain something significant that makes it possible to at least get close to the right soundtrack (e.g. a part of one of the movie's main themes, a typical synthesizer-sample etc.)
  • while instrumental tracks are preferred, an exception may be made from time to time if a song is chosen that was specifically composed and performed for the particular movie (e.g. "Don't You (Forget About Me)" by Simple Minds for the movie "The Breakfast Club")
Here are three examples to make clear how this game works. The player who names the correct soundtrack/composer for each of these tracks, may provide the next clip (one clip per round)...

Track 1
Track 2
Track 3

Have fun! Smile

----------------------------------------------------------

Four easy steps to create a mystery-track:

1. extract a CD track with Exact Audio Copy (write the track as a WAV to your hard drive)

2. install Lame MP3 for Audacity

3. cut out the part you need from the WAV file with Audacity and then save that sample in MP3 format

4. upload the MP3 sample to some provider like (kiwi6.com)

(all of the mentioned software is available for free)

nice new game, Stt *thumbs up*.

Unfortunately, I think I recognized only two so far:

1. John Williams: Main Title from "Star Wars"
2. Huey Lewis & The News: The Power of Love from "Back to the Future"

Is this right so far?

Finally! Yes, indeed. It's "TRON" by Wendy Carlos. Well done! Smile

Now either Birhar or Alchemist shall provide a new track. Just don't start a fight because of this, please Wink

Don't worry, Cinder. It's not always that difficult. I'm sure there will be many samples that you can identifiy, too Smile

Speaking of which... how about a new track?

Sorry, I don't really have the time at the moment to look for a track and provide it for the game, so if anyone else has one, feel free to put it here. Thanks Very Happy
