Okay, look, this is something that's been bugging me. You only had plans for Friday. That's not fair. Many people can't come because of work. It's a big deal. I think it was wrong to leave planning on Saturday and Sunday until you had registrations. Why would anyone register if it looks like nothing's going to happen? Could this get-together have been arranged around a weekend, rather than a work day?
Because seriously, that's a problem I'm having. I know that times are tight, and that's probably a problem. For me, I also have to stash BabyI somewhere. That takes a lot of planning, and I feel like it's not fair to have planned something hard to get to on Friday, and nothing for the real weekend. _________________ I have a book coming out. The concert want to go to, where we have to order the tickets for, is only on friday evening. We also have plans for the rest of the weekend, like dinner, sightseeing. Meeting composers and the miniconcert are only interesting when we had a large group to cover travel / lodging expanses for those composers.
In the beginning we were expecting a large group for the weekend, since so many were asking a gathering on the east side of the USA. But unfortunatly the number of actual registrants are low.
Maybe we had to be more clear what our plans were beside the concert on friday morning, although I do not know if more members would come.
Anyway still looking forward to be in the New York for the EaSST Coast Gathering _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

Although I cannot make the concert after all, I have changed my hotel for the weekend. I'm so looking forward to more details about the Saturday dinner, its location, etc. and more details about Sunday. |

Sorry, indeed it is. Like Dutchbat said

So what remains for the weekend is a meeting with the group as registered including dinner on Saturdaynight. Saturday and sunday can be filled in with NYC-things to do/see.
Let's open up suggestions for that in this posting. |
So please those who are coming post some suggestions. _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

hi Siri & Dutch,
I'm not familiar with NYC even though I live 5 hours away. Been there
maybe 3 times in my whole lifetime.
I think the person who could give you the best suggestion about
restaurants would be PeteC. |

Yeah, I think you're going to have a hard time getting suggestions since most people aren't familiar with NYC. I used to be pretty familiar with it, but my activities were usually limited to seeing Broadway shows. I don't know what's playing, and I don't know if everyone could agree to seeing something. Plus, it's pretty expensive.
The other touristy things of New York, like riding those buses and seeing the Statue of Liberty, aren't my thing. _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?

I've already done the tour buses - I want to go to the Museum of Natural History; if anyone cares to join me that would be super. I do recommend the Circle boat line for the tour around the harbor & up to the Statue of Liberty. Awesome, especially if you can do that at night because the skyline looks magical. The bus tours usually go to the financial district, Chinatown, and down to Battery Park.
Of course the Empire State bldg awaits, & Rockefeller Center, the shows, etc. Just way too much to do/see on a weekend. The big question, imo, is where will we eat dinner? I'm not familiar with restaurants so any that serve a bit of vegetarian food is OK with me.

Chinatown
I asked Alexander Frey, a known pianoplayer from New York for some good restaurants in price/quality comparison.
Boat tour at night sounds spectacular, and I don't mind seeing a show.
I'll ask other business relations too. _________________

I really want to be there but have
not heard the key details that would
allow it. It is STILL possible.
A few suggestions for you:
The Havana Central on Broadway
and 46th. They have good food
and drinks (try the Caipirinha,
from the bar). Ask for it, if you
do not see it on the menu.
http://www.havanacentral.com/home.php
Even if just to see it - Go to
the Marriott Marquiss, which was
the hotel for the Ennio-event.
This is also at Broadway and 46th.
Check out the bars/restaurants,
there. I always stay there. They
have a cool revolving restaurant
lounge At The Top. On the 8th
floor, there is another lounge
is cool, too. I think it is called
The Broadway.
http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/nycmq-new-york-marriott-marquis/
Broadway, itself, is a media
bonanza that is overwhelming
and has to be taken in. By that
restaurant I mentioned and my
hotel, you will just gawk.
There are very pricey drinks
at The London but they do have
Hendricks. That is located
at 151 West 54th (near you).

Central Park and that area is
always nice. You will be close.
It will be north of you.
Check out Rockefeller Center,
if you have not. Go inside and
note the architecture. This is near
47-50th Streets, south and east.
http://www.rockefellercenter.com/
Radio City is nearby, too.
http://www.radiocity.com/
You can walk to all of these.
If you have the confront level,
you can go to the site of 9-11.
http://www.911memorial.org/
Grand Central Station is some-
thing to behold, if you have not.
Just get a quick look it it. A lot
of films made there.
http://www.grandcentralterminal.com/
Try and eat some of those chestnuts
that only some vendors seem to
have and try a pretzel, too.
If I think of more, I will post.
Again, I hope I can still make it
to meet all of you.

There is a fresh potential for this
to happen, as it stands, today. I
am ironing out some essential
details. I really hope I can be
there and...

Yay! Possible Pete!
How many people are actually coming to this thing? I know that we had a list of concert-goers somewhere in this thread, but I lost track of it. _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?
