The official release date is out for the new Disney subs for NAUSICAÄ OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND, MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO and PORCO ROSSO. All 3 2-DVD sets will be availabe August 31st. For more information you can go here: http://www.animatedbliss.com/news.asp?TID=676
Personally I can't wait to see them all. I am especially interested in seeing if there are a lot of changes to Totoro. Hopefully Disney will continue there fine work on Studio Ghibli's movies.
Any other Miyazaki fans out there? |

I'm a huge Miyasaki fan and usually see his films first in Japanese if I'm near a Japanese video store then wait for the English language dubs because I can only understand about 50%.
Nausicaa is my favorite because she's such a strong heroine. I gotta admit that some of those creatures might give kids <10 nightmares. I think it's darker than Spirited Away. Looking forward to seeing Porco Rosso. Only one I haven't seen yet. |

When Spirited Away and Mononoke were released in the US. The prize for the soundtracks became normal instead of the high import costs. So that would mean Nausicaa will be less expensive too. Sweet :-)
Nausicaa would be a nice DVD addition to, I really like that movie. I thought it was even better than Mononoke. |

I pretty much wait for dubs. It is not that the subs bother me it is just that many times they are poorly written and sometimes I am left going huh?
Pom poko was one of those ones. The subs just didn't do it justice.
Hopefully they will re-release the Totoro soundtrack.
Yeah I am going to watch Nassicca first before I show my kids. They love Totoro, Kiki and Spirited Away but after Mononoke I check them all. I don't need my kids to watch decapatations just yet
Either way i can't wait! |

I watched the videos in Japanese with no English subtitles, which is why I don't understand them fully. I like watching these movies in Japanese with English subtitles better than dubs, but Disney did a pretty good dubbing job with Spirited Away.
I'm waiting for Howl's Moving Castle and hope that gets released in the U.S. |

Bad subs are just as crappy as bad dubs.
Incidentely, at the Ottawa animation Festival this year they are going to have a tribute to Miyazaki. We are hoping if they screen a movie it will be Howl's. The festival is at the end of September, a couple months after the rumored release date. |

After seeing Spirited Away last year, I can't wait for these DVDs to come out! _________________ "I wanna introduce you to a personal friend of mine. This is an M41A pulse rifle. Ten millimeter with over-and-under thirty millimeter pump action grenade launcher." |
