I would like it if there were a day devoted to the great old scores (pre-1980, at least). As they don't get as much play, it would be a great chance for listeners to open their ears to their heritage.

Excellent idea! Unfortunately, there aren't a whole lot of scores on SST from the Golden age of cinema (eg. Korngold, Steiner, Waxman) and those that are available aren't requested that often. I request Rozsa about once a week (Ben Hur or El Cid), but that's about it. So to have a "Classics" day would include mostly post 1970 scores.
Another cool thing would be to have days devoted to decades or to certain years. Of course Jeric does that now with the annual SST Scores of the Year day. |

Hey PeteC,
since you, Blue and i have similar notions concerning the dates of the true sound classics of film, in your observatons, what do you think is the favorite 'classics' decade of the average SST user? Since i'm old enough to actually remember when Ike was Prez, i know my views are askew....HAHAHAHA _________________ Den Nacht gebar,

Excuse me for digging up an old topic but I found this thread today and I realized that since nowadays we can't run Composer's Days like it used to be before, maybe we can have days devoted to decades as Blue suggested, or bring back SST Scores of the Year Day (I don't remember it being carried on last year nor in 2005, but maybe I'm wrong)
Any opinions, please?
Edit: BTW: Classics Day isn't bad idea either! *waves to Pete* _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

Great idea, mol!
Of course, this can be done anytime informally like we do with long track day and such...

Scores of the year day would be neat for guys like me that may not have heard the scores that won. (Of course, if they won, they've probably been played since ) _________________ I do not wake up with thoughts of control and rebellion, but thoughts of purpose and righteousness and the empowerment to fulfill those convictions that define me. |
