I would be interested to know the anatomy of today's events and how they unfolded, when it's all said and done. Also, are there any recommendations as to old passwords etc. or is it not an issue?

Can you please mention in more detail what happened? I only visited the site a few times today, just to see what's playing. Wasn't paying much attention to the chats today. I just happened to see the last of the chat on 31 Mar 04 - 19:00, site's time.

99.9% chance your password is not at risk. Change it if you want to feel safe.
Techo, we had a troll log in the chat today and spoof as other people. It is a pretty simple backdoor hack.
The chat will be closed until further notice.

Looks like someone has been logged in with an empty user name, that could very well be the culprit. It's then very easy to type for someone else in chat, just include their nick at the start of the sentence.Just how did that dude register with an empty nick 
Edit: the nick has just one space. So maybe that's not it but... at one of the other online communities I sometime visit, they only allow letters and numbers in the nick, someone somehow registered with a nick include dots and dashes, it perhaps is somehow related to ascii html , not sure. |

As I type this, I'm on a plane flying to the guy's house to kick him in the face. 
Only the chatmodule got hacked, nothing else. No one got onto the servers or anything. Just some stupid trick they probably found. Fun fun. |

So this is the reason why Cocles was amazed that I was in the chat this morning. I'm really sorry to hear that once again one of these party poopers is annoying the nice people who are usually in the chat.
