The Tenerife International Film Music Festival and the most important private university in this field have signed an international cooperation agreement. The result is a workshop to be held at TEA on July 12 and 13.

The Tenerife public can get, for the first time, full information about all the aspects of the creative and industry process that take place when a soundtrack is produced

The VI Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ), which will be held from July 7 to 14, sponsored by Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, Canary Islands Government and Santa Cruz and Arona City Councils, has signed its first international cooperation agreement with the most important private university of modern music in the World, the Berklee College of Music, where professional musicians, students and general public, will enjoy a unique workshop where accomplished international professionals will share their talents to explain the process of producing a soundtrack as well as of creating music for an audiovisual project.

Against all adversity and with its customary self-improvement spirit, resulting in new agreements and innovative offers, FIMUCITÉ have programmed the workshop “The road to Film Scoring” with the cooperation of Promusic, the Professional Musicians Association from the Canary Islands, at TEA (Tenerife Espacio de las Artes) on July 12 and 13. Divided into two strands of work, the first one dealing with training and production, and the second one with composition and interpretation, the different panels will have professionals such as Andrew Hill, Grammy Award winner, Walt Disney Pictures vice president of music production for the decade known as “the Disney Renaissance”, and, nowadays, the Director of the Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games Master’s Degree Program for Berklee College of Music in Valencia.

Robert Townson, record producer for the prestigious label Varèse Sarabande, will be another member of this pioneering group of talented professionals in Tenerife, as well as Pete Anthony, one of the busiest conductors and orchestrators in the Hollywood film industry, with more than 20 years in the business, working on over 300 films with top composers such as James Newton Howard or Danny Elfman. Robert Piaskowski, Artistic Director of other of the most important film music events in Europe, the Film Music Festival in Krakow, and Diego Navarro, film music composer and director of FIMUCITÉ, will also take part as professionals in this special workshop.

About Berklee College of Music:

Berklee was founded in 1945 and, for over more than 65 years, has evolved to reflect the vanguard of music and of the music industry. The institution is based on the idea that the best way to teach students for their professional career is through the training and practice of modern music. Berklee College was the first one in The United States to offer jazz as a subject, the popular music at that moment. In the 60s, it included rock’n’roll, created the first higher learning programs about film music orchestration, music synthesizing and composition, and recently a syllabus in world music, hip-hop, techno and music for video games. With students from more than 80 nationalities and former students awarded with more than 270 Grammy Awards and Latin Grammy Awards, Berklee is the most important learning music laboratory at the present time – and the future. We can find among its most celebrated alumni Quincy Jones, Diana Krall, Branford Marsalis, Aimee Mann, Roy Hargrove, Gillian Welch, Miguel Zenon, Susan Tedeschi, John Scofield, Bruce Cockburn, Arif Mardin, BT, Alan Silvestri, John Mayer, Howard Shore and Gary Burton.

About Berklee in Valencia:

Berklee Valencia is the first international campus of this renowned institution and also the first one set up outside Boston. Located in the emblematic Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, Spain, this splendid 3,600 m2 campus has been specifically designed for music and equipped with the latest technology. Berklee Valencia offers a meeting point to launch the career of its most talented students internationally. The campus, which offers an exclusive syllabus and an international counseling center to help students in their transition towards a professional life in the musical field, includes the first Berklee College of Music Master’s Degree Programs on September 2012: Music Orchestration for Film, Television and Video Games, Contemporary Studio Performance and Global Entertainment and Music Business. Besides, Berklee Valencia offers a specific syllabus called Global Studies to let Berklee Boston students take a semester, or more, in Valencia, as well as summer and special programs. It is a new way for musicians from all around the World to participate in this global musical community – as performers, professionals and conductors.
"Believe it or not, I do try to do some good in the community." -Alonzo Harris
