2 weeks ago my wife Jonette was diagnosed with type 2 breast cancer. It was caught early and the survival rates are 85 - 92%, with aggressive treatment. even though it is unlikely that this will result in death Jonette and I have a huge fight ahead of us.

She had her MRI yesterday tomorrow is the consult with her oncologist, and next week with a surgeon that she selected. we do not have a lot of information right now, that will start coming in a couple days.

I have decided to let everyone know at this time because I will let it slip out in chat or wherever and I want just one place where I can send people who are interested in her condition and what is happening.

It is sad and sweet that one of her major concerns right now is what this will mean for the JW trip. she so wants to be healthy enough to attend, even though this whole thing is my dream.

If I could recommend something good for you, it would be a book. This book helped me keep the spirit, especially in the first period.
I send warm thoughts and best wishes to Jonette & You.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Jonette, Istagi. And I'm a recently ordained cleric so maybe it will carry some weight. Wink

Ok still trying to digest everything from yesterday.

the bad news is, well it is cancer, it really cannot get much worse than that.

The good news and surprisingly there is good news.

1. it was caught very early
2. the growth in 2 tumors is 8% and the 3rd is 18% - which is low to moderate.
3. all 3 tumors are reactive to hormones - that is great news Tamoxifen will be highly effective
4. they are also HER2 receptive so Herceptin will also be effective.

At this time we do not believe that Chemo will be necessary but that will be determined after surgery. The oncologist was hopeful and was doing her best to say that this type of cancer is extremely beatable.

It appears that she has a Republican Guard type of cancer and not a Mossad variety.

surgery will include an overnight stay in the hospital and up to 2 weeks of recovery. Jonette is such an AA+ personality she will probably stay in bed for a couple days and then go crazy.

I have AFLAC and Jonette is covered. at first glance it appears that she will get more money recovering in bed than she will get working. Hard way to get a temporary influx of money but if that is how it goes we will take it.

after that onto a plastic surgeon for reconstructive work....

I actually went to sleep feeling pretty good last night.

WE WILL WIN!!!!!!!!

Absolutely, y'all will win!!

I have a friend who had both breasts removed and she's been cancer free for a long time now. I'm sure it will be the same for Jonette!

*BIG HUGS for you and Jonette*
