Istagi, I haven't known what to say on this thread, except to echo the well wishes of so many others. I'm not sure if you are a person of faith, but I pray to God that in the midst of your struggles, your wife and you may find strength, joy, and love of a kind that maybe you didn't even know possible. Warm wishes!

Mr. Green

Time for a Jonette update.

today her world is all sun shine, rainbows, kitties, puppies, flowers and all good things.

She had her final drains removed last night. she can now sleep on her back and she was released to work and to drive. She is extremely happy and back at work now.

There is a problem with her left breast, some of the tissue is not healing very well. She has another apt. tomorrow to get that looked at more carefully. It might mean some minor surgery to remove some skin that may have gone necrotic.

although she is scheduled to start chemo on the 18th of Oct this may be delayed till her skin issue is resolved. She cannot start chemo till her skin is completely healed since chemo targets dividing cells it would interfere with the healing process.

but all is good in her life right now.

It has been a while since I have looked at the posts since I am really busy at work. That was when I saw the news about Jonette. My thoughts and prayers for recovery from the surgery and especially the chemo and radiation therapies.

It's a good thing that the surgeon had the foresight to get Jonette that power port during the first operation, if you need to have lots of infusions that makes the process much more convenient.

My mother needed one like that and one of her doctors had the bright idea to get one into her while she was conscious... fortunately the second doctor who was supposed to do the procedure at her bedside refused. Rolling Eyes

Best of luck and some more well-wishes headed your way! Smile

Jonette update.

She has an appointment with Dr. Hunsicker this afternoon at 4. There is a patch of skin on her left breast that suffered more damage than expected during the mastectomy and reconstruction. It appears to be healing but slowly. Hunsicker may decide that very minor surgery could be necessary to help with the healing process.

This will delay the start of chemo. Chemo targets cells that are dividing so she must be completely healed from the surgery before getting treatment. Chemo will shut down any healing process. Another worry is that if her body is still trying to repair the damaged area it will trigger more intense side effects of chemo.

I will have more information about this later today.

Other than her being tired and her chest muscles being very tight and painful she is in good spirits.

Hey, Istagi. I saw your post about the fire, and it made me a) relieved that you're okay and b) wonder how Jonette is doing. I hope everything's going as well as one could hope.

Jonette is doing great, chemo and radiation are done. She is happy and healthy other than a bum knee but that is unrelated.

Now we just need to keep testing and hope that the cancer does not return. No one is "cured" and there is always a chance that there are still cancer cells in the body.

This is great news, Istagi! I'll keep my fingers crossed that the cancer is gone for good and that you and Jonette can enjoy a happy and healthy life together for many many many more years to come.
