Jeric,

What do you think?

It will be a total surprise. No
one will know what's coming next
and ALL DAY LONG.

It'll expose the library more.

I like the idea!

Could you also dissable Now playing and the Queue and just have the played list so some tracks would be a complete surprise? I know you can just minimise the windonw and do it anyway, but this way you could still participate in everything else on the site.

Pete you and I have talked about this before, and I think its been floated before. I'm all for anything that exposes the playlist more than gets done now.

In some other post of mine elsewhere I suggested that we simply tackon a randow request every 5th or 6th request and mark it differently (since there are now new changes ot the queue list). This will draw attention to it. I actually thought at one time this was being done.

A whole day of random requests might be cool, but it would be nice to have it scheduled...like every Tuesday or Friday or whatever. That way people can either plan to listen (or not listen) as moves their fancy.

I think it is a nice idea, but it should not be done too often. I think listeners will drop because they can't request.

SST thrives on requesting.

Make it one day year.

And as of right now, SST plays a random track from our new editions every... tenth song I believe.

As far as adding ANOTHER track to the queue every 10 songs or so that's completely random... hmmmm.... The queue is already pretty big... perhaps if we made it every 30th song or so.

Yeah Cocles, it's set to 10 now. Sometimes I have to make it 20 because of the massive queue size. I'm in favor of the random script but the queue has to be controlled first. I'm also working on an indication in the queue and now playing that will show you whether the song was requested, a new release, or a random track.

One day a year would be great.

We used to have enough of these a while ago when requests were processed through AudioRealm and when they went down so did requests. We'll see. This isn't a bad idea.

This sounds like another great idea, Jeric.

I'm all for it! Sounds great! I'm finding a lot of the older films had unbelievable scores - it would be nice to expose them more. What an amazing library JERIC!

If we did have a totally random day, I've vote to have it every 4 years on February 29. It's an extra day in that year so you don't know what you'll get then.

Of course, this does mean waiting another 4 years to implement the idea. I plan on sticking around that long. Anyone else up for the idea?

LOL Goober, I think its an interesting idea, but it would be good to have it a bit more often!

I do like the idea, as I've often found score that I wasn't aware of, and really ended up liking and wanting!

I don’t know if this would work, but it might be a compromise.

Have a day where you could still make requests, but once a track from a CD has been selected, that entire CD is out for the day. So instead of just locking out that specific track, you lock the whole CD. That would force people to go choose from CDs they might not otherwise.

Just an idea...

Nice twist to the idea, celtic. I wonder how easy that would be to implement on the database?
