|
Joseph Trapanese is real reason the scores to Oblivion and Tron Legacy worked out so well. Perhaps another reason why the Chemical Brothers score to Hana failed. Passively it would appear to mainstream media that these bands are musically gifted but the truth is, they have a few good tunes and the real magic came from an infamous composer that guided them and showed them how to give the music structure, story, development, pay off and worth.

M83 and Oblivion
Quote: |
To guide M83 through the scoring process, director Kosinski brought in Joseph Trapanese, who co-wrote the score alongside Gonzalez. Kosinski states, "Together they have created the score that I have dreamed about since I first put this story down on paper eight years ago." Trapanese first came to Kosinski's attention when he collaborated with Daft Punk on "Tron: Legacy" as arranger and orchestrator.

I prefer that all credits for these score go to Joseph Trapanese. Although the 'music' groups came up with the idea of a theme or something, he is the real composer.
This doesn't imply that I like those scores btw.

Good to be introduced to another name behind the music.
BTW: I enjoy the sound of both "Oblivion" and "Tron: Legacy" scores _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

He also did the US release of the Raid with Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park. He's kind of a go to guy for working with popular electronic artists to bring the work to an orchestra and to the screen. He has orchestrated for some big films and has his own composer credits on lots of things, like the Tron TV series.
He also seems to be a nice guy. I heard him speak on a panel once. A few months later I met him in person, and when I started to tell him I saw him speak at the earlier event, he smiled and said, "oh yeah," and pretended to remember me even though we hadn't met.
Anyway, he's not that secret an ingredient as he has always been credited pretty prominently. Most people just don't look beyond the top line. He's gotten way more credit than many other people who deserve it. Many of the best known and most decorated composers of today couldn't compose their way out of a paper bag without the help of a team of orchestrators. _________________ Randin Graves

Weird development:
Joseph Trapanese was in Gent last weekend and I talked to him.
But on Girlfriend's request to sign her T-shirt he claimed that HE WASN'T A COMPOSER!
He refused to autograph the T-shirt although he had agreed to me to do so. _________________

Interesting. So it was just that then, he wasn't denying it wasn't him to avoid fans? None the less, his guidance and advice has helped two pop acts produce some fine masterpeices in movie score history. _________________ “Our lives are not our own. No, it was him allright.
And I agree that he did some amazing orchestrations and editing and all.
But on some albums he actually is credited as composer. Even on IMDb. _________________
