I have just found a news on FMF (Festiwal Muzyki Filmowej w Krakowie) website that Wonderland Records label released Joe Hisaishi's new album named "Vermeer & Escher".
Album cover may look a little bit familiar to score fans:
Album has been released on Feb 15th 2012. |
I think I'll collect this one next summer Thank you for sharing Molossus!
It's an album with music inspired by Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer and Dutch artist M.C. Escher, composed for the Vermeer: Kingdom of Light Exhibition at Ginza, Japan. _________________ "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" - Blade Runner

I haven't seen it anywhere in Poland.
At Empik they used to have so called "international directory", which meant they offered a possibility to get some CDs imported from other sellers outside Poland too. I got Gothic 3 score for SST that way couple of years ago.
I can't see that option at their website today, but you can always ask.
What I can do is I will check couple of places in Warsaw for you next week. _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

New soundtrack released in September

"Based on the life of Santetsu Yasui (1639-1715), appointed as the first official astronomer in the Edo Period and would go on to create the Jokyo calendar at the imperial request."

Great Cal! I think the explanation we got back in Krakow was slightly different but I do recall that the score was done in no time (like 15 days). _________________ "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" - Blade Runner |

I still have a full dump of the memory card somewhere, but I couldn't recover anything on it. Well... I could give it another try _________________ "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" - Blade Runner |

Joe Hisaishi is a busy composer in 2013. Not less than 6 releases this year, some already out. This is the first time Hisaishi scores 2 Ghibli movies in the same year, and also the first time he scores an Isao Takahata movie. Exciting!

| Kaze Tachinu (The Wind is Rising / 風立ちぬ)
Released on July 17, 2013

Directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The film is based on his own manga which was published back in 2009. The plot is a fictionalised biography of Jiro Horikoshi, designer of the Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter aircraft which served in World War II. The tone will likely be quite different from his previous movies, maybe more like Porco Rosso? Difficult to know as no trailer has been released so far!
|
| Kaguya-hime no Monogatari (The Tale of Princess Kaguya / かぐや姫の物語)
Released on November 20, 2013

Directed by Isao Takahata, his first movie since 1999! It was initally announced that Shinichiro Ikebe was to compose the film's score, but in February it was announced that Joe Hisaishi would take over. Sounds interesting!

| Sweet Heart Chocolate
Will be released in 2013 (hopefully! I couldn't find much information about this one) |

Not strictly a Joe Hisaishi news, but close enough... It's been announced at the Venice film festival that Hayao Miyazaki is retiring. Kaze Tachinu (The Wind Rises) would then be his last film and maybe last collaboration with Joe Hisaishi.
Joe Hisaishi scored 10 out of the 11 feature films Miyazaki directed!
We can still hope that Miyazaki will change his mind: he also announced that he would retire after Princess Mononoke, then directed his masterpiece Spirited Away! If not the case, this is a well earned retirement |

Thanks for sharing all this Hisaishi news Alchi.
I'll start saving extra for those scores. _________________
