She is female masked. But I think she's rather a singer than a composer. _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

Sigh. I kinda wish people weren't calling it "Chick" Composer day on the queue. I think that's belittling. It makes it sound like they're not as good composers, like how "chick flick" is a pejorative term. _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?

It's that day again! I added Sarah Class to the list at the top of this thread, but I'm sure I'm missing some female composers. Anybody got ideas? |

Thanks! I added Cornish to the master list, but SST doesn't seem to have any albums by Morley. |

It's that day again!
After seeing Girlfriend's, Dutchbat's and Swordfish's requests in the queue today I also added: Anna Karney, Beatrice Martin, Evanthia Reboutsika, Carly Simon, Lisa Coleman, Elisabeth Drake, Eleni Karaindrou, Wendy Melvoin, Zoe Poledouris-Roche, Victoria Kelly, Julie Delpy, Heather Headley, Angel Roche Jr. & Loreena McKennitt to the list on the first page of the thread. _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

Thanks for the assist, mol. Though I'm not sure they all count as composers. |

You are welcome, Lady!
I googled every name and listed only those which returned description "composer" or at least "songwriter".
Feel free to remove any names you think are doubtful.
BTW: Added one more to the list now: Lesley Barber. Thanks swordfish!
And one more: Laura Shigihara - Thanks Cinder! _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

Apparantly Mol didn't get all female composers I requested yesterday:
Nani Garcia
Wakana Hara
Zaz
(...)
I'm sorry. Due to my mistake part of this Dutchbat's post is missing. I clicked a wrong button wanting to quote it and edited the post instead. When I realized what I did I was unable to reconstruct the original text.
In original post there were some remarks about mentioned composers. Dutch also expressed his opinion about the fact that lots of members kept requesting male composers on March 8th, dwarfing a bit the idea of Female Composers' Day - molossus _________________
