To me these scores stood out to me and I'm sure to others in 2010, but if you had a vote for Soundtrack of the year for 2010, which one would get it?

-How To Train Your Dragon: John Powell

-Alice in Wonderland: Danny Elfman

-Robin Hood: Marc Streitenfeld

-Inception: Hans Zimmer

-Tron Legacy: Daft Punk

Any others?

Keep on the lookout for the annual SST awards, where this topic will be covered.

John Powell's "How To Train Your Dragon" score FTW with Daft Punk's "Tron: Legacy" score as a runner-up. Admittedly, the score to "Inception" will be hard to beat considering how popular that movie was and with a big name like Hans Zimmer on the cover.

When do they choose the nominees and the winners?

Look for it in the Jan-Feb time frame, I think.

I know this isn't the official nomination thread but I have to put Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by Alexandre Desplat in the mix.

Not just because it's Harry Potter but because Desplat has the best HP score since John Williams IMHO.

I think that scores as the Ghost Writer or Airbender are a good options for the Soundtrack of the year 2010.
And Narnia III or Ga'Hoole too.
Prince of Persia and the Pillars of the Earth are a good options too.

I steal this topic for my personal 2013 top 10.
I was asked to give this top 10 for an interview with a music magazine/blog.

When I made up the list I was quite surprised that it contained so many Spanish composers and hardly any 'established' ones. Most of my list where also mentioned as composers to look out for in the future by some well known IMFCA critics.

So here are my 2013 TOP 10 Scores:

1. 'Isabel' by Frederico Jussid
2. 'Mortal Instruments;city of bones' by Atli Örvarsson
3. "O mago pequeno"/'the Little wizard' by Marc Timon Barceló & Miguel Cordeiro
4. 'The patriot Yue Fei' by Nathan Wang
5. 'La Mula' by Oscar Navarro
6. 'Winnie Mandela' by Laurent Eyquem
7. 'Grand Piano' by Victor Reyes
8. 'la Migliore Offerta' by Ennio Morricone
9. 'Segunda Piel' by Roque Baños
10. 'Romeo & Juliet' by Abel Korzeniowski

If a ballet score was allowed to be nominated for this list the 2013 music by Tuomas Kantelinen for the Finnish Opera Ballet: Lumikuningatar (the Snow Queen) would be around place 5 Smile

Why not make your own topic, if you're talking about 2013? This is confusing, no?

Well, to be honest there were 2 reasons for this.

First, I think it would be more confusing if it was named as 2013 favorites as there were recent poll posting of that kind.
Second, I did not want to start a new topic as I felt no need for people having discussions on this.
So I use no extra bandwidth or put in yet another topic in the hodgepodge there is already.
