FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VARÈSE SARABANDE RECORDS TO RELEASE
THE WOMAN IN BLACK: ANGEL OF DEATH SOUNDTRACK

Featuring Original Music By Marco Beltrami

(December 29, 2014 – Los Angeles, CA) – Varèse Sarabande Records will release THE WOMAN IN BLACK: ANGEL OF DEATH – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on December 30 and on CD January 6, 2015. Marco Beltrami (THE HOMESMAN, SNOWPIERCER), who wrote the music for 2012’s THE WOMAN IN BLACK, composed the original music for this sequel.

“Musically, we built upon the score for THE WOMAN IN BLACK,” Beltrami explained. “I had the opportunity to collaborate with [composers] Brandon Roberts and Marcus Trumpp, who added a fresh take to the creative process.”

Award-winning composer Marco Beltrami established an early reputation as a genre innovator with non-traditional horror scores for the SCREAM franchise and DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK. Beltrami’s musical palette has since expanded to virtually all film genres. Beltrami has received two Academy Award nominations for Best Score. First, for 3:10 TO YUMA, starring Russell Crowe and Christian Bale, and shortly after for his score to the Academy Award winning film for Best Picture, THE HURT LOCKER. Beltrami received a Golden Satellite Award in 2011 for Best Film Score of The Year for SOUL SURFER.

His recent projects include THE HOMESMAN, SNOWPIERCER, THE NOVEMBER MAN, THE GIVER, THE WOLVERINE, TROUBLE WITH THE CURVE, THE SESSIONS, A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD, and WARM BODIES. Beltrami has lent his musical voice to such unique hit films as LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD, TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES, and I, ROBOT. Other scoring credits include THE WOMAN IN BLACK, THE THING, and DEADFALL. Most recently, Beltrami created the nail-biting score to WORLD WAR Z and the AMC spy thriller TURN.

When a group of orphaned children are forced to move from their home in London, caretakers Eve (Phoebe Fox) and Jean (Helen McCrory) bring everyone to the desolate and eerie British countryside. 40 years after Arthur Kipps (played by Daniel Radcliffe in the first film, THE WOMAN IN BLACK) left, this supernatural horror film introduces this new group to the now abandoned Eel Marsh House; an odd but seemingly safe location. It isn’t long before Eve starts to sense that this house is not what it appears to be as the children in her care begin to disappear. As their house of safety becomes a house of horrors, Eve enlists the help of a handsome pilot (Jeremy Irvine) to help investigate what is happening. Eve soon discovers that it may not be a coincidence that she has come to reside in the house inhabited by the Woman in Black.

“This film took place during World War II so we wanted to craft a sound reminiscent of the time,” Beltrami described. “We incorporated percussive sounding instruments made out of artillery shells, which made a more interesting composition."

Relativity Media presents THE WOMAN IN BLACK: ANGEL OF DEATH, in theaters on January 2, 2015. THE WOMAN IN BLACK: ANGEL OF DEATH - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack from Varèse Sarabande Records will be available digitally on December 30 and on CD January 6, 2015.
