Hey guys!

Spring is near. So is the 8th Krakow Film Music Festival in Poland.
On Wednesday, February 25th, 2015 the programme of this year's festival will be announced. It' s time to make up your mind if you think about joining SST crew and members in Kraków this year!

BTW: All I know for now is that we will not see neither Titanic nor Back to the Future nor Godfather this year. This means all of our (both wild and educated) guesses about the festival programme turned out to be wrong Smile

Will keep you all informed! I'm sure it will be fun again!

Edit:

Coming to Kraków:
- olaziolek +1 (Sat) (+2 Bogowie tickets)
- Caliburn + Bogowie ticket
- martino + Bogowie ticket
- DallasTreado +8
- molossus +2+2+2 (Thu-Fri-Sat)+1 (+Bogowie ticket)
- hati (Sat-Sun)
- joshrob (Sat-Sun) +2 (Sat-Sun) +2 (Sat) + 2 Bogowie tickets

- enkacaffe (Fri and Sun)
- hwh + Bogowie ticket
- Sabat_ka + Bogowie ticket
- Desmo + Bogowie ticket

I believe it when I see it!

On the other hand I am glad that I can keep my "I will never ever watch Titanic" promise Smile

The programme of 8th FMF has been announced today on air at RMF Classic radio by SST friend and Festival Director - Robert Piaskowski.

It's been announced that the 8th edition of Film Music Festival in Kraków will stage 5 concerts in its main segment.

1) Day 1 (Wednesday) will be dedicated to Video Games Music
- Jayson Hayes and Critical Hit in concert (band members: Sara Andon, Jason Hayes, Tina Guo, Caroline Campbell, Kevin Dooley, Salome Scheidegger, Aleksander Milwiw-Baron) - venue: Kijów Centrum.
We will hear the music from: Diablo II, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Metal Gear Solid, Tetris, Pokémon, Super Mario, Angry Birds.

Venue: Kijów Centrum (Cinema) - 20:00.

Tetris by Critical Hit:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHwmZVgr2mY

2) Day 2 (Thursday) - dedicated to Polish film music
- Scoring4Wajda - a concert including music by Stanisław Radwan, Wojciech Kilar, Zygmunt Konieczny, Krzysztof Komeda, Andrzej Korzyński, Paweł Mykietyn and Krzysztof Penderecki (with new, never played suites). We will listen to pieces of music from Polish movies: Wesele, Ziemia Obiecana, Pan Tadeusz, Zemsta, Smuga cienia, Noc listopadowa, Niewinni Czarodzieje, Polowanie na muchy, Człowiek z marmuru, Tatarak and Katyń.

Our venue will be ICE Kraków - 19:00.

3) Day 3 (Friday) is Shakespeare Day
with Elliot Goldenthal, Julie Taymor, Stephen Warbeck, Patrick Doyle and Jocelyn Pook being present in Kraków. We will hear the music by Nino Rota, Miklós Rózsa, Siergiey Prokofjew and Ennio Morricone too.

Venue: ICE Kraków - 20.00.

4) (Saturday) International TV Series Gala
with music from Game of Thrones, The Borgias, Downton Abbey, Czas Honoru, Misja Afganistan, Chicago Fire, Dexter, The Knick and Vikings (guests will be: Ramin Djawadi, Trevor Morris, Bartosz Chajdecki, John Lunn, Atli Örvarsson, Daniel Licht, Cliff Martinez and Diego Navarro)

Venue: Kraków Arena - 20.00.

5) Day 5 (Sunday) = Star Trek live in concert
- J.J. Abrams's movie from 2009 with Michael Giaccchino's music being played live simultaneously. Conductor: Ludwig Wicki.

Venue: Kraków Arena - 20:00.

FMF is more than concerts of course. There will be workshops, and other meetings with composers and people of the industry, young composers' competition and more. We will get details of that part of festival events later.

Edit: On March 25th details of FMF4Kids segment of the festival have been announced.

On May 30th (Saturday) there will be two concerts:

1) A screening of two short animated films with orchestra performing the scores live:

- The Gruffalo (2009) - winner of Award For Best TV Special at Annecy International Animated Film Festival in 2010 and Oscar Nominated in
- Grufallo's Child (2011) - a seque to The Gruffalo.l

Venue: ICE Kraków - 12:00 (noon)

2) A concert of FMF Youth Orchestra conducted by Monika Bachowska (Polish film music by Lorenc, Dębski and cues from recent years international blockbusters in the programme). The title of the concert is "Young Way into the Classics".

Venue: Krakow Philharmonic - 14:00.

If you want to see those events you need a separate ticket. I didn't book them so far. If anyone is willing to go, let me know please!

Edit: On Friday (March 27th) details of AlterFMF4 segment of the festival have been announced.

Late in the evening on May 28th (Thursday) there will be a concert of a film and theatre music of Polish composer - Michał Jacaszek.

Venue: ICE Kraków (Theatre room)

Again, if you want to see that event you need a separate ticket. I didn't book them so far. If anyone is willing to go, let me know please!

News from April 1st., 2015:
There will be one more movie with music being played live simultaneously!

Date: May 31st, 2015
Hour: 15:00
Venue: ICE Kraków.

It will be a Polish movie (for the first time). The title is "Bogowie" ("Gods") and the score is by Bartosz Chajdecki. BTW: We have the score here on SST.

Music will be performed by B.A.Ch Film Ensemble and Bartosz Chajdecki will play piano parts during the concert.

I'll try to find out if the movie has English subs or not.

Tickets for this event will be sold separately. Let me know please if you are interested.

Tickets prices: http://www.fmf.fm/en/3/658/692/bilety

If my calculations are OK the cost of the best category single seat at all the concerts of the main segment (without FMF4Kids and AlterFMF) will be a total of 480 PLN (around 114 Euro or around 130 USD). We need to deduct 10% from this price of course as we are getting a group discount.

If you need a ticket (or tickets) let me know, as soon as possible, please! (here in this thread or by mail or by PM). We will buy tickets for SSTers as a group (with 10% discount and with good seats I hope).

BTW: If your stance is "maybe" at the moment, please let me know too! Thanks to that I will be able to book a place for you together with a group now and you will gain the time to make your final decision up to around May 15th 2015.
I can return tickets with full refund up to 7 days before the start of the festival. It is MUCH BETTER to let me book a seat for you now and later quit the idea of going to Kraków (letting me know of course) than to wait to the last possible moment when probably I am not in a posision to get more tickets

"good seats I hope" ... that worries me a bit. I do not want to see our group drop in prestige. We loved the FMF "before it was cool." Wink

Laughing

I already sent an e-mail to KBF to ask for a booking.
My little doubt is that ICE is much smaller venue than Kraków Arena, but we will see.
So far KBF never let us down. Quite contrary, more than once they surprised us with something more than we expected in the past.

BTW: I edited the post about festival programme and tickets above.

BTW 2: All FB members feel free to comment about the programme of the festival on FB site of FMF and FMF2015, please:
here: https://www.facebook.com/FestiwalMuzykiFilmowej
or here: https://www.facebook.com/events/948908071810042
Our comments would be a nice gesture towards KBF (festival organizers) who are definitely SST friends.
