Since most if not some people are genuinely disappointed at the nominations for best score at the Oscars, I thought it would be a good EYEdea to have the SST Awards.
I’m sure listeners have their favorite score, cue, artist, genre and so forth. The awards could encompass and included all soundtracks currently in the play list. Any ideas for categories?
Heres the obvious ones:
Best Score overall
Best Score (considering movie content)
Best Stand-Alone Score
Best single Cue/Track
Best Composer
Most Played Score at SST
Most Hated Score at SST
Most Hated Cue/Track at SST.
Any other ideas ?

Would this be only for scores released in the calender year 2002 or for all scores in the playlist for any year?

I suggest separating dramatic scores from comedy/musical scores, like how the AMPAS used to do it.

That’s an interesting idea, which could work
I had originally thought that each person would simply suggest a score or piece of score for each category that they thought best fit that category, and the top three suggestions would be the first second and third place for each category regardless of what genre.
But I’m open to see what people think about it.

Make it for the 2002 calendar year.
Jeric ultimately picks the nominations (although he can assign people to help suggst things). (I'd like to say all soundtracks for 2002, but that would make the voting complicated and I have a feeling a lot of doofuses would vote for stuff that isn't from 2002.)
Categories?
Best Comedic Score
Best Score from a Drama
Best Single Track From a Score
(I'd say best composer, but I believe it's suffice to say that the composers of the scores who win are the "best composers" for the year".) |

Heheh, I'm sure there is a list somewhere on the net of the 2002 score releases. However, seeing as how this will be the SST Awards, I think it should include all scores on SST.
First, the categories must be decided, and then through a pole of sorts, a winner could be picked for each category.
… or it could be done other ways.

The awards should be annual. Not a one time thing. Especially since we're doing this in lieu of the Oscars. Therefore it makes more sense to organize this and do it for the 2002 calendar year. |

I'm liking this idea. Screw the oscars! How can we get a list of all the 2002 soundtracks? Hmm, we could do this for previous years too.
