After recently watching this classic I feel compelled, driven almost possessed to request this wonderfully haunting ST.
If it can be written, or thought, it can be filmed."--S.Kubrick _________________ Davey x |

Actually, well, no. The soundtrack Martino links to is actually music for the later television mini series, not the famous 1980 movie by Stanley Kubrick. The original soundtrack album for the movie has only two tracks composed for the film by Wendy Carlos and Rachel Elkind. All other tracks are either modern concert music by Bartok, Ligeti and Penderecki or lighter 20th century music.

I don't think the album is easily available and anyway apart from the two tracks by Carlos and Elkind its music (the classical tracks) is more suitable for the sister station adagio.fm (that may have several tracks already). At least De Natura Sonoris #2 is in the adagio.fm playlist.
Also, it seems that the soundtrack album is not easily available as either a cd or digital album. The main title theme is available as a digital download at amazon.com and also other tracks may be available from other recordings.
Therefore, I don't think this will be added at the SST. Perhaps the Main Title Theme by Wendy Carlos and Rachel Elkind. The other classical tracks may be added to the adagio.fm playlist... (I could donate some Penderecki albums that include Utrenja, The Awakening of Jacob and De Natura Sonoris #1 to adagio.fm later this year. Also Ligeti's Lontano is missing from adagio.fm.) |

GalFin, you are absolutely right! Thanks for clarifying.
Btw, Krzysztof Penderecki will be the 2018 FMF Cracow guest and excerpts from Kubrick's The Shining should be played live. |
