Was listening to the Michael Kamen and Metallica CD the other day - some of it is incredible!

So are there any rock/pop - st composer fusions you would be interested in hearing?

Eminem and Rachel Portman?

U2 and Nobuo Uematsu?

I didn't like S&M, it was just Metallica playing their songs like they always do with Kamen's orchestra doing what I call 'sound effects'. It had way more potentional then they did.

No Leaf Clover is one of the best Metallica songs of all time and would not have been possible without the orchestra.

Opeth & Thomas Newman?

Best I could come up with.

I agree with you on that one. That song was written for the S & M concert. Call of Kutlu is kick ass too. The rest could have been better. I was quite disappointed.

Don't know if this would work, but the results could be interesting: Steve Vai and Vengelis, spacing it out.

Combing Steve Vai with anything would get intresting results Smile

But I agree, a solo guitarisst like Vai together with a classical orchestral composer would be cool.

Yes, COMBING Steve Via could be a diverse pass time...Wink

Pat Metheny played solo guitar on Jerry Goldsmith's Under Fire and that did sound brilliant - admittedly it was acoustic guitar. The track Bajo Fuego is particularly impressive.

Yeah, combing Vai would be a interesting. Combing Joe Satriani would be even more challenging. Smile

I don't know... I agree that they could have done better, but some of the stuff on the second CD in that set was good. In particular, Nothing Else Matters and One already lent themselves to orchestration really well. Enter Sandman was not bad either.

I've noticed that a lot of rock bands are now fusing some elements of orchestra into their songs. I love hearing a rock song with violins in the back.

I'm not much of a fan of Alanis' new music, but I did love her "Uninvited" for City of Angels OST.

I think it would be very interesting to hear a rock song with Vanessa Mae in it. Razz Maybe Sevendust and Vanessa. Razz
