‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula In Concert’ is an original production created in coordiantion with Sony Pictures and coproduced with Krakow Film Music Festival (FMF). It is the first time that these two film music festivals join forces to create a show of such magnitude. Recently, the festival producers behind FIMUCITÉ and FMF, in partnership with Robert Townson Productions, have signed a deal with the German agency Europäische Filmphilharmonie GmbH for the worldwide distribution of the concert. This is a considerable commitment by FIMUCITÉ following the success sown by last year’s live-to-picture concert dedicated to the film ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ by Steven Spielberg, and music by John Williams.

FIMUCITÉ 13, which is directed by renowned Spanish composer and conductor Diego Navarro, runs from September 20th– 29th with the support and sponsorship of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Canary Islands Government, Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, Audi Canarias, Dorada Especial and the Teleférico del Teide, and the collaboration of SGAE – the Spanish General Society of Authors and Publishers, amongst others.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 23rd August 2019 – Following the creation of the Spanish Audiovisual Music Awards in 2018, the Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) has the pleasure of hosting the Musimagen: Asociación de Compositores de Música para Audiovisual awards ceremony for the second year running (Musimagen: Association of Audiovisual Composers). The II Spanish Audiovisual Music Awards will be held on Friday 27th September in the Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín. As part of the 13th edition of the FIMUCITÉ festival award winners will be announced prior to the start of the concert ‘My Favourite Fears’ / ‘Mis terrores favoritos’. The 13th edition of the festival has been made possible this year thanks to the support & sponsorship of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Canary Islands Government, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council.

Musimagen has announced the nominees of the II Spanish Audiovisual Music Awards for each of its three audiovisual music categories: series; electroacoustic music; and orchestral scores. In the category Series, nominees this year are Iván Martínez Lacámara & Manel Santisteban for ‘Vis a Vis: Temporada 3’, Zacarías Martínez de la Riva for ‘Secretos de Estado’, and Osvaldo Montes for ‘La víctima número 8’. In the category Electroacoustic audiovisual music the nominated composers are Arnau Bataller for ‘El desentierro’, Alberto Torres for ‘Cómprame un revólver’, and Pablo Cervantes for ‘Jaulas’. More than 200 members of Musimagen had the opportunity to vote for their favourite works from 2018. According to the rules and regulations governing the voting system of the II Spanish Audiovisual Music Awards, which was created to recognise the efforts of audiovisual composers in Spain, composers cannot vote for their own works to ensure the voting system is fair and winners accepted with complete equanimity. This awards ceremony in which professionals of the audiovisual music sector vote for award winners is the first of its kind in Spain.

Winning scores will be announced during the awards ceremony. During the evening’s events, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife under the baton of the festival’s director, the composer Diego Navarro, will perform a suite that unites the three film scores nominated for Best Orchestral Score. The winning score in this section will then be published by Musimagen.

FIMUCITÉ 13 will run from 20th – 29th September with the support and sponsorship of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Canary Islands Government, Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, Audi Canarias, and the Teleférico del Teide, and the collaboration of SGAE – the Spanish General Society of Authors and Publishers, amongst others.

Topics explored in the documentary category range from nature to art. In ‘American Mirror. Intimations of Immortality’, which explores the work of Tigran Tsitoghdzyan whilst also reflecting on patterns of beauty in an era of social media, a decisive role is played by the score of Mark Petrie (whose compositions have been heard in numerous trailers, including ‘Blade Runner 2049’ or ‘Avengers: Endgame’). ‘Pinazo. Notas y Pensamiento’ analyses the work of the great Valencian painter and is supported by the score of Josué Vergara (who has previously received 4 nominations in Fimucinema and won an award for Best Original Song in 2017 for ‘Sonríe’).

‘Finding Bobbi. A Search for Self’ brings our focus onto acting through an LGTBIQ+ production, via the figure of trans actress Bobbi-Jean Charlton. Music is by John McMillan, who worked as assistant to Brian Tyler on titles such as ‘Expendables 2: Back for War’ or ‘Iron Man 3’. ‘The Superpowers of the Bear’ studies how these mammals may prove vital to the future of humankind. Music is by Olivier Militon, who in 2016 was selected by Fimucinema for his music for the shortfilm ‘The Father’. In the documentary ‘700 Sharks’, we float in the waters off Polynesia in search of the greatest gathering of sharks on the planet as we are immersed in music by Julien Jouen, a musician with a great affinity for nature. The documentary category is rounded off with ‘The Perfect Gangster’ that revolves around the on-goings of the New York mafia, with music by Ryan Stevenson.

French composer Mathieu Alvado (nominated for ‘Rebirth’ and ‘Safety’) and the German composer Anne-Kathrin Dern (‘Broken’) are repeat nominees from abroad. Those joining the FIMUCINEMA family of nominees for the first time this year are Alberto Torres (‘Bicho’, ‘Vico Bergman’), Joseba Beristain (‘La Noche’), Raúl Galván (‘Las Aventuras de Sancho’), Kasem Fahmi (‘Demasiado Lejos para Escucharlo Todo’), Pablo Trujillo (‘Una Noche Cualquiera’), Jonas Lechenmayr (‘Tariq’), Daniel Trujillo (‘Nana’), Pau Loewe (‘La Guarida’) for national productions, and Alexandre Bouvier (‘L'Age d’Or’), Christy Carew (‘Virtually’), Jonathan Galland (‘The Ribbon’), and Yi Liu (‘HerT’) for foreign productions.

Once again, the promotional poster for this event was produced by Daniel Fumero of Limbo Kids studio using the same conceptual design and aesthetic from previous years, with this year’s image fitting well with the theme of ‘FIMUCITÉ the13th’.
