Could someone who's heard the Girl with a Pearl Earring score or seen the movie let me know how the music was? Thanks. |

Zirael I saw the movie and was pleasantly surprised that the music was very good. I thought I'd like to get it at that time, but since then I've wanted to remind myself how it sounds just to be sure, and I've not found samples on the web. I'd say it's a good risk. |

Well, until this past week I hadn't seen the movie or heard the soundtrack, but now I've done both... and I'm really impressed with the score. It was a really good fit for the film, too... which had a very impressive visual style. The art directors clearly took loving care when they took even the smallest of details from Vermeer's paintings and put them into the set designs. |

Beautiful score and wonderful movie. A must-have. But you can now hear it yourself at SST, thanks to Jeric The Great. _________________ "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer". |

By the way, the music is not bombastic and screaming, but very subtle (as is the film). Maybe that's why it is a 'pearl'. _________________ "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer". |

Yes, I certainly agree that the film was very subtle and that the music was far from bombastic.
But the music for the film had a bigger sound than I expected... quite a substantial orchestral work. For some reason, I expected something on a smaller scale... almost like the work of a string quartet. I have no complaints, though. The music fit the emotional contours of the film like a glove. |

Yes, I was very happy Jeric acquired it for SST so I could hear for myself how lovely it was. I appreciate the film reviews posted as well. |
