Anyone else interested in seeing this documentary? I'd love to hear your opinions if you go and see it before I do.

I went through a Metallica phase in high school but hardly listen to them anymore. Early albums were the best. I thought Paradise Lost was an amazing documentary- it's by the same directors so I hope this one is good.

Metallica was good, until they did it for the money instead of their fans.

Screw em.

I love the black album, and the double CD they did with Michael Kamen. So yeah, generally I like the band and I'm certainly interested in seeing the documentary.

And Cal, they may be earning a lot of cash these days, but they're still doing some interesting stuff... like the Michael Kamen collaboration that I mentioned.

Metallica was my favorite band until Black cam out.

...and justice for all was their best album (I will always have a place in my heart for Garage days though). The only flaw on it would be the song One (I am sure most of you would disagree) because it did not fit with the flow of the album. I did like one as a song, but it got soo much play that I got tired of it.

Anyway, that is my humble opinion.

Sorry I forgot to mention; I agree with you Cal, Screw 'em all!

They are commercial sell-outs, and that says a lot for them since they promised to never put out a video and look what happened. Hatfield never should have taken voice lessons, he is at his best when he is raw. he lost that on the Black album.

I love metallica in the 80s and early 90s. The softer they got the more I listened to death and black metal. I agree, Justice was their best. In order of perference:

...and Justice for All
Master of Puppets
Metallica (Black Album)
Ride the Lightning
Kill 'Em All
Garage Days
Whatever crap they made after the black album doesn't deserve to be mentioned.

They had plenty of good songs after the Black Album.

How can you not like S&M?

Their new songs are crap and I don't consider S&M new songs.

I agree. Although "No Leaf Clover" was new, and I'd say that was good.

rofl Son!

My thoughts about S&M (didnt I tell them before somewhere on this forum?) are very dissapointing, I heard they were gonna do it with a composer (My knowledge back then: Michael Kamen who the f*ck is that?) The concert was just about Metallica playing their songs with Michael Kamen doing some sound effects in the background. Much more could be done with it. A simple example: instead of Kirk doing his standard solos, the orchestra could have taken over.

Two exceptions of course: No Leaf Clover was written for that occasion, that way it had a good balance between orchestra and band. Same thing goes for Nothing Else Matters.

I only saw Metallica live once and they were stunning. Either that or the atmosphere they created was stunning. Either way I don't think I've been to a gig with quite as much energy before or since.

Mind you that was a few years ago now. Has anyone seen them recently?

I saw them live, I think it was either in 95 or 96. Can't remember for sure, but it was a good show.
