It was ok, but just another comedy from the ever growing band of SNL alumni |

Hey guys, I'm branching out from making polls about polemical agiprop like "Super Size Me" and "Fahrenheit 9/11" so that I can bring you this poll on Will Farrell's star turn in Anchorman!
Personally, I enjoyed this film quite a bit. I mean, it made me laugh. A lot. And that's a good sign that I got my money's worth. I'm confused as to why Dodge Ball seems to have done quite a bit better at the box office.
If I had one criticism, it would be:
Spoiler:
The scene where all the news teams fight went a little too far when Tim Robbins chopped off Luke Wilson's arm.
But still, there was tons of good material in the film... that Brick Tamlund character was especially well done. |
So, what do y'all think? |

Uhm you should have added a choice to the poll... Will I bother seeing it?
I have nothing against silly movies, but 1) generally don't need to pay theatre prices for them, and 2) do I dare wonder how much dumb humor movies we can have? |

Well, Goblinmoon, it's a poll for people who have seen the movie.
But now I have to ask... how can you really know how dumb or how intelligent the humour is if you haven't seen the film? Anchorman actually manages to celebrate masculinity and to make fun of chauvinism at the same time, which I would be inclined to describe as an achievement. |

You make a point Hurr, I can only go by the marketing campaign, and we all know how reliable those are. Say instead that I'm going from past history of SNL graduates movies.
I'm was also probably not clear in saying that I would probably watch this when it comes out on video. There's lots of movies that I'd feel better just renting and watching on the small screen as I don't feel they need the benefit of the atmosphere and big screen nature.
Sorry for not making myself a bit clearer. |

Ok, I understand, Goblinmoon. Thanks for the clarification. I agree that many of the SNL graduate movies haven't been very good. I'd put Anchorman near the head of the class, though. |
