A bootleg is an unauthorized production of copyright material. eBay, underground, blackmarket (Russia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the US are popular places that make bootlegs). Anyone who knows where to look can get them. Their purpose is to profit from someone elses work and are generally frowned upon.
The general rule is definitely do not buy bootlegs of something that is already produced legally. In this case Armaggedon has a score already. Don't get suckered into buying what may appear to be a "better score". Ususally the sound quality is worse and most importantly purchasing it doesn't support Mr. Rabin. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? I'm sure there are several ways, from someone leaking out the original recordings to someone making their own from a DVD isolated score. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

I got a bootleg of the Die Hard score about ten years ago, when it wasn't currently available and I was dying to get it. Since then it's been released, no? But the story at the time was that someone had access to the original cues from the film, managed to get them down to CD. The quality was fine, though I had a moment of insanity and paid $40 for it, which probably wasn't worth it. It had some cool pieces, though. _________________ http://www.keith-moore.net
