I do not usually instigate these discussions but I think that a user should be a registered user to use the chat area. This would prevent identity theft in the chat area and save a lot of hurt feelings. It would also let us that use the chat area and other areas get to know more about the people that we talk with. Please let me know what you all think to this suggestion. I am not normally in favor of more registrations that is absolutely necessary but I feel that this one is a good idea.

Actually there have been several instances of identity theft. Username/password could just be the same as what it is for forum.

I am most definately in agreement. Personally, I think that we need more of an IRC style chat, possibly with the ability to register nicknames through something like NickServ.

Realy good ideas.
I personally experienced identity theft. Its not very pleasant and tends to ruin your day.
Anyway, I am sure it can be handled. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

I think some way to make sure identy theft is eliminated is a must..frankly, I'd like to throttle the kind of idiot that would do that!
I'll leave it up to Jeric and Morglum to come up with the best solution. Until then, that is just the way it is...
