What have they done to one of my favorite movies??
Spoiler: I guess I should have expected Tim Burton to make it Willy Wonka meets The Nightmare Berfore Christmas. What was going on with Johnny Depp's hair and the Bug Eye Glasses?!?!?! And the song...what happened to the good songs? That one was crappy |
I'll still have to see it and give it a chance, but the trailer looks awful. |

I didn't like the songs from the first one. But, I didn't really like the first one. I love Elfman and Burton, so I have some hopes, but still skeptical based on the trailer. _________________ 'He looked at her, and being a man whom pity deeply stirred, it seemed to him that her loveliness amid her grief would pierce his heart.' —Faramir's thoughts on Éowyn |

I loved the first movie and I also loved the songs. I showed the trailer to the kids and my husband. They said the same as me "they've ruined it". Still I have to go see it just to see what they've done. I really hope that song on the trailer isn't in the movie. _________________ "Education's responsibility is to replace an empty mind with an open one" --Malcolm Forbes |

Question,
Why on earth did all of you think Burton's film would be a remake of the Gene Wilder Movie?
They don't even have the same title.
Ruined "it"? Ruined what? The book? If anything it looks like Burton will be following the book just as much if not more so than Wilder's film.
I'm glad Pixie and a few other are saying they'll give it a chance.
As for the rest of you, stop whining. Get off your holier than thou high horses.
"Wahh! They ruined it!"
Oh? As if you wouldn't be whining just as loud, screaming, "WHY!?!?" if Burton had made an exact replica of the Wilder film (only this time starring Depp)?
Fact is, the majority of would whine no matter what Burton did. So, give it a rest. |

Well, I find that most remakes aren't really that great. Ok, yes I know this isn't technically a remake of the original, but it's still a rerendering of the book into a motion picture. So IMHO, it's remake. On the other hand, I said that most, not all, remakes aren't that great. Take for example the Sci Fi Channels remake of Dune and then its sequel. That was really well done. However, the trailer for this movie made me cringe. But I'll still give it a chance after it's done in the theater (because of money). _________________ It's like something out of that twilighty show about that zone. - Homer Simpson

Actually, if you look at the bonus features on Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, they actually explained why they changed the title to Willy Wonka.
Spoiler: They say they wanted to emphasize the strange character of the owner of the chcolate factory. They also mention that they had changed the relationship between Charlie and his grandfather in the movie compared to the book. In the movie, they are a lot closer. |

Wow, that trailer was bizzare, not at all how I pictured it. Oh well, I like Burton and Elfman, so I'll probably end up seeing it. Hopefully the film is better than the trailer makes it out to be. _________________ "Don't you think that idea is a little half-baked?

Wow, I thought the classic was great as well. First impression of the teaser - ahh, so-so. I'll have to see the new one before I make a final decision. _________________ "Get it?...Got it!...GOOD!" -- The Court Jester |

Its definitely got the hippie-vibe to it from what I can see from the trailer.
I wonder how they'll do that boat scene, lol. That's one of my favorites parts of the movie. |
