Which is your favorite score which had to replace a rejected score?
Or, if you know both scores: Where do you like the replacement score better? (Usually, most people tend to prefer the rejected ones...)

Mine is:

Mission: Impossible - Danny Elfman
(rejected: Alan Silvestri)

here's my list thus far:

1.Pirates of the Caribean - Klaus Badelt
rejected: Alan Silvestri
While I havnt heard both, Pirates by Badelt turned out fun,and I heard Silvesri re-used the material for Tomb Raider 2.

2.Remember the Titans - Trevor Rabin
rejected: John Debney
Ive heard both, and while they feature literaly the same instruments and "texan" flavor, Rabins effort has much more emotion and is frankly much more catchy as a stand alone product.

3.Timeline - Brian Tyler
rejected: Jerry Goldsmith
Again, heard both and while Tyler's score isnt great, its got its momments and has an established main theme. Goldsmith's work, which is set to be commercially released, is frankly lots of brass and percussion with random orchestral sound. IMO

4. Mission Impossible - ZImmer
rejected: ALan Silvestri
Heard both. For this one, Zimmer clearly has a more consistent score, but Silvestri did have some nice momments with the guitar. In all fairness though, Zimmer had the more "action oriented" score, something this movie required.

5. Troy - James Horner
rejected: Gabriel Yared
Heard both in their entirety. Horner's score pales in comparison to Yared's. Where Yared has power with thematic magic, Horner attempts to acheive the same with mindless brass. Yared is without question the winner in this case.

Are you talking about Mission: Impossible 2 here? That's the one Zimmer scored. Alan Silvestri wasn't hired to score M:I 2, only the first one. Zimmer has always been first choice for M:I 2.

Troy - James Horner
rejected: Gabriel Yared

It's one of the best soundtracks ever made (my opinion)!!! I'm glad they rejected the other one...

I totally agree with the Troy rejected film, but oh man, I didn't know there was a second rejected soundtrack to Pirates??? I have to get my hands on that work.
