A friend of mine contacted me yesterday asking me to check my discs in the Star Wars Episode 1 Ultimate Edition soundtrack (The one with two discs and a blue metallic Darth Maul on the cover). When I did I saw the same as my friend. My discs were all fogged up and wouldn't play in my CD-players. I'm guessing this is what's known as CD corrosion.
Could everone who read this and have the Ultimate Edition soundtrack please check their discs and see if they have the same problem. I'd really like to know if these are isolated incidents or if its a worldwide problem, and how widespread it is.

I just checked mine, And I'm not finding any problem with them, corrosion or anything like it. Perhaps somehow they were put in a place were their was a very high tempature. Other than that, I cant think of a reason why the Cd's would do that. Hmm...Well there it is. Sorry I couldn't help you out.

I think the term to search for is CD rot, there's also DVD rot. I read mostly much older cd's suffer from the problem. Do you folks live in the same area, such that the climate is the same? In any matter, you can try to get a refund from the label. Since already both of you have the problem. Goodluck!  |

Ha!!! Our climates are very different. I'm in Texas. And no, I don't have any damage on my CD set. Though I'm sure there has to be a way of repairing such damage.

Me and my friend live about 1400 kilometers away from eachother, so I'd say similar climate conditions are out of the question. My CDs are also not exposed to either heat nor prolonged direct sunlight. I'm gonna give Sony a call today and hear what they have to say about it.

Now I'm all paranoid about mine. I'll have to check when I get home. It doesn't matter too much to me though. I usually only "listen" to my CDs once as I burn them to mp3s. However, it is nice to have the originals around for those times when listening to music on my notebook isn't an option.
