Any more oboe fans out there? Care to recommend a few scores where the oboe stands out?
(why do I get the feeling that this thread will sink to the bottom of the page like a rock?) |

Only oboe track I instantly think of when I hear oboe is the main theme from The Mission.
It's even in the name; "Gabriel's Oboe" _________________ "Anything one man can imagine,

Sometimes I have a hard time picking out the oboe from the other woodwinds, so I might have made some errors. Here are a couple tracks I remember off the top of my head.
How to make an American Quilt-main theme and 1 or 2 more oboe solos in the slower pieces
Enchanted April (Bennett)-Enchanted April suite
Portrait of a Lady-Flowers of Firenze
Dad-One of the middle tracks
What Dreams May Come (Kamen)-I once met this beautiful girl by the lake
I think Angela's Ashes, Deep End of the Ocean, Far from Heaven had some oboes too. |

I just heard an emotional oboe track from Day of the Dolphins: Nocturne. May be more tracks with the oboe on this ST... I don't know, but I intend to find out. _________________ "It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him." ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
