So i guess Turner Classic Movies is running a 4 week run of Hayao Miyazaki movies. now i didn't know who this was either until I saw the movies. They're all Joe Hisaishi scored movies. I love his stuff and have always wanted to see the movies they're in but never get around to it. Here is the link for the complete story.

Actually not all the movies being shown are Hisaishi scores. In fact, not all of them are Miyazaki directed.

Here is the schedule:
Miyazaki san directing and Hisaishi composing
    Jan 5: Spirited Away
    Jan 5: Princess Mononoke
Jan 12: Nausicaa of the Valley
Jan 12: Castle in the Sky
    Jan 19: My Neighbor Totoro
    Jan 19: Porco Rosso
Studio Ghibli Films with Miyazaki san either producing or writing the screenplay
Jan 19: Whisper of the Heart, directed by Yoshifumi Kondo, music by Yuji Nomi
Jan 26: Only Yesterday, directed by sao Takahata, music by Katsu Hoshi
Jan 26: Pom Poko, directed by Isao Takahata, no composercredited
Enjoy them, they are classic.

I especially like Yuji Nomi's works. He also composed The Cat Returns (Spin off of Whispers). He did some music for some of the shorts shown in the Ghibli Museum.

Pom Poko is performed by the Shang Shang Typhoon

TCM is playing in France, but they don't have the same schedule at all Sad

That's not surprising since many movies were not released in France yet ~ for example, Pompoko will be released next week in theaters! Smile

I hope you'll like these movies and their music! They're all truly great!

I did see "Sprited Away" and "Castle In The Sky" on DVD before, but I look forward to see other anime I haven't seen on TCM every Thursday this month. Smile
