Quick question for whoever can help.
Here is the setup:
I have a SST VIP account.
I introduced a coworker to SST that is constantly listening and does requesting.
We are both NAT'd through the firewall on the same IP address.
If he makes a request, my VIP status shows up as making a request and my countdown timer initiates.
Is there something that I am doing wrong, or is requesting based on IP instead of account?
Thanks for taking the time to help! |

It is currently based on IP. I don't think that this will change. One of the admins might be able to help you out, but I can't promise that. Contact them directly if you don't hear anything here.

That is what I figured. Not a huge deal. I can set up a proxy for my requesting to bypass the problem. Just thought I'd ask!
Thanks for the help j2brown! |

In fact, after we let our own script take over some of SAMs handling of requests it now checks both IP and username. _________________ Who is General Failure and why is he reading my disk? |

Did this change already take place, or it is happening soon?

As some of you know from my post in other places, that I'm having the same problem. I don't think he's getting my VIP access, but I am getting stuck with his timer still.
So, is this new tweak not affecting that? |

No, he's not getting any of your VIP privileges. As a VIP you have a timer and when he requests from the same IP as you this timer will think you requested and therefore start counting down. It is still correct though. The rest of the request system will not accept a request until the timer reaches 0 for you. When I come to think of it, this works both ways (your requests will affect him) and you will always be able to request before him because you are a VIP _________________ Who is General Failure and why is he reading my disk? |

Well that's good! But I have to admit it makes me leery to introduce anyone else at the school to SST, and I didn't even introduce him! |

Just as a thought... Is there anything that might be done if more people here get into SST? Just two more listeners from the school could really adverse requests.
Not that I mind just listening, but it is nice to request now and then |

The tricky part for us is if we diable the IP check, who's to stop someone from creating multiple accounts to get more requests? We're going to have to get creative here so it will take some time to get it straight. Sorry in the mean time. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained?
