Does anyone else remember this strange puppet series that must have been on UK tv back in the early 80s. It was set in space and I just have these vague recolections of an space ship that had an 'x' shape to it and some special power. I seem to remember three younger main male characters and an older, bearded character. Then there were some baddies, the leader of which was an alien woman of some kind..
The baddie ships were like little insects and they were joined to some kind of carrier ships.

This "x-wing" space ship ended up being swallowed by a black hole. I seem to remember it beng quite good.
Pretty sure it was Japanese.

Anyone else remember it?
