I remember when Batman came out. It was the first movie to have mass market pricing, I think. It was in the $20 range, not the typical $75-100 range of most movies prior to that.

This will show how old I am but the first video that I saw was in elementary school in the 70s. The video player was huge and played those big tapes that were the size of a hard back novel. The first VHS movie that I saw was also in school and it was Star Trek: The Motion Picture (my class had a choice between Star Trek or Superman). I bought my family's first VCR after I started working in the 80s. I used it mainly to record tv shows and movies from cable. I also rented movies quite a bit. I don't remember what movie I rented first but the first video that I bought new was Star Trek III: The Search For Spock. Does anyone remember when stores sold videos behind locked glass cases and they sometimes cost $100.00? |
