Lately Ive seen quite a few movies that have premired on the main networks, abc, etc and on the regular cable channels. What Im surprised is how new some of the movies have been shown in terms of the years since they were theatrically released. Suchas Pirates of the Carribean from 2003 and X-Men 2. Seems like yesterday when they came out. Is there some rules that says once a movie has been released after three years, it then can be shown on tv. I thought it was more like 4 or 5 years. Anyone know? |

It might have something to with the networks are some-what invested in the production end of the films and have certain rights to them. ABC=Disney=Touchstone= a trifecta of evil!
And then there's FOX...Rupert owns everything. Worlds will collide when this jerk off decides to mate….I mean merge with Eisner.  |

My guess, especially with Pirates and X-Men, is that they are trying to pull in more people for Pirates 2 and X-men 3. Possibly people who haven't seen those movies. I know that we watched X-Men and X-Men 2 on the regular stations after we watched X-Men 3. It had been a while since I've watched those, but it was nice to have a refresher.

There are no rules, really. The companies can do whatever they like, releasing what they want, when they want, in what format suits them.
The windows are closing, though. No doubt about that. It kind of stinks, because second-run movie theaters get squeezed out.
