There is a logo in the original article on the english version of Wikipedia. Those that have created other versions (or are working / planning on writing other foreign versions) should use the logo already available in that article. _________________ "Anything one man can imagine,

Thank you Chandler and J2 for your answers.
I was trying to use a logo from english version article but at first I didn't know how to do it (I'am absolute Wiki-beginner).
It was not so easy because I suspect (but that is only my guess) that rules of posting pictures in Wikipedia has changed since english article about SST (with its logo) has been created.
Few minutes ago I posted logo from english article (using Wikimedia Commons) and then used it in polish article. (I hope I did everything right and they will not delete this picture from WikimediaCommons )
Now I think that everone who is doing any other language version of our article can use (post) this SST logo in any other article.
One should just use a code for posting images and the picture from WikimediaCommons resources named: "180px-Streamingsoundtrackslogo.jpg"
For example, polish Wiki code I used to post the logo looked like this:
Code: |
[[Grafika:180px-Streamingsoundtrackslogo.jpg|thumb|right|Logo radia]] |
I hope it will help to add logo to all versions of the article.
Edit: Ooops! I think I did something wrong, because the picture is gone now I will try to post everything again from the beginning. _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

Logo I posted to WikimediaCommons has been deleted.
It looks like posting it to WikimediaCommons by me did not qualify as fair use under United States copyright law. Or rather using that logo in Polish Wikipedia did not qualify as fair use under US law.
I'm back at the beginning - I don't know how to use SST logo in Polish Wikipedia article
Edit: I tried to ask more experienced Wikipedist for help. Waiting for reply... _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

The image on the English version of Wikipedia qualifies for "fair use" under US Copyright law.
The Dutch version of wikipedia explicitly prohibits the use of images which qualifies for "fair use", because Dutch and Belgian Copyright law don't recognise "fair use".
Images that are uploaded to the Dutch version of Wikipedia must come with a license (GPL, GFDL or one of the following Creative Commons licenses CC-BY, CC-BY-AS, CC-AS).
So unless the 'Author' of the image grants me one of these licenses I cannot upload a copy of that image.
I don't know how this works on other non-English wiki's, but it may be the same.
I see the Polish version probably has the same restrictions. _________________ The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on Flying: The knack of throwing yourself at the ground and miss.

The answer I got today at Wikipedia is that "fair use" rule doesn't apply to Polish Wiki.
So you were absolutely right Stefan.
I suppose this ends (at least for now) our discussion about possibilities of using SST logo in non-english Wiki articles _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

Just to summarize the SST wiki activities:
* Czech (?)
* Danish (Armand)
* Dutch (stefan_nl)
* English (Saffron and the_lake_effect)
* Finnish (?)
* French (Alchemist)
* German (bpewien)
* Italian (?)
* Norwegian (?)
* Polish (molossus)
* Portuguese (?)
* Spanish (?)
* Swedish (?)
* Any other language, let us know. |
Japanese and Hebrew, which I'm gathering from the top 20 SST-listening countries. (DON'T click on those links if you don't have Asian Language Support on your computer or it will just look mighty weird!)
Amazing stuff Alchemist, stef, and mol. I honestly didn't expect you guys to rally behind this so quickly. Incidentally, it's now my first multi-language collaboration on Wikipedia. Together, we will build bridges, until all are united by SST. (If someone wants to do a Hungarian article, then by all means. hun-boy? anyone?)
I haven't done that much research into the whole "usable images" issue. I always wondered why the non-English Wikipedias seemed so devoid of images, and I guess you guys probably found the tip of the iceberg on how it goes...
You'd think that with the internet here for a couple of years, someone would go about trying to figure out a comprehensive global system of image licensing (as the old geographical boundaries seem quite outdated). *shrugs*
Anyhow, I'll get around to reading some of that stuff. In the meantime, I'm going to take a whole bunch of pictures and see what I can post on the commons that won't be deleted the next minute.

Normally I would *point* at you, say "get on it like a hungry targ, and I wish you all the "Qa'Pla" in the universe... Unfortunately, the Klingon Wikipedia is CLOSED and not taking in anymore articles.
But for your very interesting question relating to languages created in the last 120 years, I will suggest the idea of YOU *yes, now I am gesturing in your direction* creating a Streaming Soundtracks article in Esperanto. If you don't know it, you would have to learn it. Like stef said, "You don't have a deadline."
*gives another attempt at learning Chinese* _________________ When all else fails, consider time travel.
