|
I only recently started logging into this site after doing any number of searches in Google and finding a number of film score sites that seemed to repeat the same damn scores every day(I like Star Wars theme and everything, but if played too often it begins to become a little tiresome.)
I have been a film score enthusiast for about 13 years, but in the last few years, I have tried to distance myself a little from it because the top ten composers seemed to be repeating themselves and there was little new talent to fill their shoes(I'm a Thomas Newman/David Arnold fan myself) And, now with film production running rampant and the soundtrack/score being revolutionized and packaged in any number of ways by companies trying to have another Titanic or The Bodyguard. Add to that the number of films that choose to go for the house music slant and get moby to do a theme...Okay, now I'm ranting...I guess I'd be interested to hear what people think of the industry and contemporary film scores...
Any thoughts? |

Film Scores might be a little more eclectic today, but there has always been a whole lot of junk with a jewel interspersed here and there.
We just think the golden days were better because the unmemorable junk from back then has all been forgotten. |

I suppose that could be right Cocles. But after a certain amount of time... Well won't we run out of new shit to think of. I mean sooner or later they will have composed everything possible.
Wonder if God gave the world a reset button??? |

No, we won't run out. That's concept of post-modernism. We might run out of "combinations" but we won't run out of uses. |
