I've been unhappy with the audio quality that is produced from our software lately so I will be tweaking the sound settings at least this weekend.
I'm trying to find a balance of keeping the stream volume normalized (so you don't have to adjust your volume), CPU usage, and sound quality. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

Thanks for info JERIC! Good to know.
For a moment I was worrying that something is wrong with my computer or SST. _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

OK, I have it to a point where I think I'm happy with it. Of course it will take a little time so I can hear multiple styles of songs.
I'm using a 3rd party program now and the normalizer/gain control seems to sound less distorted. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

JERIC... with the crappy loudspeakers some people (as in... me) use, I'd guess you could decrease the sound quality, and people would never know... _________________ "Welcome to the paranoia club; cheapest fees in the universe and membership lasts forever."

Not an audio quality issue. When I can connect to the 128 it sounds great.
However, after a bit of time (4min 8sec last time, but it varies) the stream will quit. My client (audacious) tries to reconnect and falls into a cycle of connect/buffer/drop.
Later I'll be able to reconnect again, with the same results.
I know others have seen similar issues.
I'll post more details as I can get them.

Same here: 128k ogg stream is not stable.
Using Winamp 5.21 Lite, increased buffer to 512KB. I bet SAM has some trouble dealing with the new stream _________________ "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" - Blade Runner |

Might just be coincidence, but mine seems to drop between songs. The one song finished, then the stream died. When it works, it sounds Awesome though!

I had the same impression, jbarta, but I was not able to reproduce this issue so far!
*edit* no, it seems to break randomly (in the middle of a 3 mn track, while it was playing properly for a 10 mn track) _________________ "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" - Blade Runner

I've made it through song transitions, so I don't think that's the issue.

I just started listening today (12-11-06) with the new system in place (very nice, btw: keeping things legit!)
I have definitely been adjusting the volume all morning. Softs are too soft; louds are too loud. I could live with it, but a flatter volume profile would be nicer.
(Listening to 64k AACplus stream on WMP 10.0.)
Keep up the good work!

I've certainly noticed that the sound quality is great... but I also notice that I have been adjusting the volume all morning. Quiet songs (and perhaps older scores?) are way too quiet. Then this morning Drumline started and about blew me out of my chair. I use that live 365 player... I've adjusted that volume to about 50% and turned up my computer volume and that seems to help me... but I've never had trouble with volume until this morning.

On my end 128k OGG stream also stops after couple of minutes. I use Winamp v5.21 and it displays info: "Connecting... (-2: -11)" but that's all I get. _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

I have nice speakers and sound card on my PC at home so I was looking forward to the 128k stream, unfortunately I've had the same results as everyone else with being unable to stay connected for longer than a few minutes. |

As for volume normalization, the Station ID's seem louder than the rest of the tracks. The one that just played startled me because of the volume difference. |
