Here we have the top 22 grossing movies about Christmas in the US since the 1980's, with The Grinch holding down the #1 spot. (not to be confused with movies set at Christmas, hence no Home Alone Razz )

Which of these would you pick to be in your stocking this Christmas Question

I'd pick Miracle on 34th Street. A good sentimental story. The rest are a bit ho ho hum for me. Shocked

...or maybe you like more traditional fare, like It's A Wonderful Life or White Christmas. Let us know your favorite Exclamation Smile

There's no christmas without Clarence getting his wings (or George getting his money), so It's a Wonderful Life for every December. Wink

I agree with this.

Though I watch it randomly through the year, Die Hard is also a Christmas flick... Sorta... Laughing

I totally agree, I never get tired of Jack Smile

In a very different level,I also liked "Jingle all the way" ,It has very funny moments and I feel a little identified with Arnie ( Shocked ) because I use to leave my Christmas shopping for the last days...

I love Nightmare before Christmas, but another Christmas tradition of ours is the MST3K version of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. (You can find it on DVD with Manos, the Hands of Fate as the MST3K Essentials Collection.) From this film comes one of my favorite Christmas songs, "Let's Have a Patrick Swayze Christmas."

the "Muppet Christmas Carol" and "Scrooged" are definites for me, but i realized this year that i actually like to watch the original "Miracle on 34th Street", even though we're not forced against our will to watch it as a family anymore.

also, its not christmas at our house until we watch "The Ref" with Dennis Leary. the language isn't exactly christmas-like or family fare, but nothing says christmas like burglary, blackmail, and tying up grandma.

We just got "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" on DVD.

I don't know why, but I used to hate this show. My daughter seems to love it.

John, Die Hard IS a Christmas movie. So is Die Hard 2. In the character of John McClane we find a reluctant surrogate for Santa Claus - he has generosity of spirit, saving lives, spreading banter, and giving people the well needed gifts of action and crudité.

Those two films warm my heart everytime they come on television during the season. It really does bring a tear to my eye. Yippee kai yay, and to all a good night.

P.S. Batman Returns is a Christmas movie too. I mean, Christopher Walken. Enough said.

I did not get to watch the movie completely this year, but every christmas I enjoy watching 'A Christmas Story'. There are just so many classic moments in this movie that are classics like the gun (you will shoot your eye out), the pink bunny pjs, the leg lamp etc. This is the one movie I try to make a point to watch every Christmas but other than that I may catch a few other movies if I run across them on the television but generally don't watch many Christmas themed movies during the holiday.
