So... the most important question of next year:

Will Harry Potter Live or Die in the 7th book???

Which option do you prefer and why?

Personally I'd prefer for Harry Potter to die, but I doubt it'll happen.
J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter is Big Business, and I don't think she'll let such a money machine die.
And even if she never writes a single word about Harry Potter again... in 15 years we might see "Harry Potter Jr. goes to Hogwarts", written by her kids, dog or somebody.

Well, maybe I'm just way too cynical...

Harry will die but he will return to life by a miracle (since he is good in magic) Wink

That's a nice theory, Molossus. I can imagine something like that Smile

I always figured Harry would die. Voldemort and Harry have been contected... in order for Voldemort to die Harry will too. 'Course I could be wrong Wink

That´s true, but maybe she doesn´t want her sons or somebody to continue with Harry´s stories and the better way to prevent that is by killing Harry (and J.K. doesn´t seem to have any problem with her characters´ deaths Confused ).

I think it would be a sad but coherent way to end, with Harry giving his life, saving the world... but...who knows?

My guess is that Harry stays alive.
Thought his fight against Voldemort, which he will win of course, will cost him his magical powers and his scar.

i think he'll live, actually. *checks odds, wonders what kind of payoff she'll get if she's right*

also, i kind of hope he does live, b/c honestly, after 7 books, getting all invested and watching harry grow up, it'd be a bit of downer after all that time if he bites in the end. i also don't like the message that "you live, you suffer, and then you die" without enjoying / balancing life out. harry's been miserable / suffering through most of the books (in the grand scheme of things) and to die at the end puts a pretty depressing slant on life, even if he is doing it to save the world.

i'm sure rowling would handle it well, but still, i don't know if i'd ever re-read the books knowing that's how it ended.

I did hear an interview where she did mention that if he lives she knows that people will be writing fan fiction forever and ever. While she likes what she has read, is she really up to releasing him in that way. So it might depend on if she is really wanting to see that stuff the rest of her life. I mean, it is already out there, just not to the Star Wars degree, yet. But if he lives, it will be.

I prefer that he does die but go to a special place reserve for defeaters of dark wizards.Wink

Harry's scar will be one of the Horcruxes and Harry will have to sacrifice himself to defeat Voldemort.

Along with Harry I think Snape will end up dying helping Harry (we will find out he has been a good guy all along).

Others who have a good chance to kick the bucket in book 7: Draco Malfoy, Percy Weasley, Neville Longbottom, Luna Lovegood and Peter Pettigrew.

I predict much mayhem and upheavel as the saga comes to an end.

Rowling has said that she will kill off two characters in Deathly Hallows, and I think one of them will definitely be Voldemort. As for Harry, I do not think he will die, mostly because of reasons that have already been stated in this forum. Rowling has also said that she will redeem a character, and I think most of us are quick to think of Snape (I did too at first), but the more I thought about it, I did not think there is any way Snape is still good after what he did in Half-Blood Prince. No, I think (especially after events in HP6) that Draco Malfoy will turn good, attempt to help Harry, and be killed by Voldemort. Now, I just can't wait to find out if I'm right! Very Happy

I´ve been thinking about that and (after reading the book again) I believe that maybe, Snape didn´t want to do what he did Rolling Eyes , maybe Dumbledore forced him to do it for a reason that we still don´t know...

Snape could have killed Harry if he wanted to, but didn't. That fact alone shows where his true loyalties lie. He is still a double-agent, and a very convincing one. In the end it will finally be shown why he is one of the good guys.
