Dear all,
this is my first topic in this community.
In the 70s there was a Sciene Fiction Movie in the Cinema
I dont know the english title but the soundtrack was made by Joan Baez. Please can anyone tell me where I can get the song "We are children of the sun"?

First of all, Welcome to SST.
From Wikipedia I found that the English title is Silent Running.
A short search on Amazon learned me that the soundtrack is not available for sale.
Hope this info will help you on your search.

Couldn't find anything either, except maybe that the song's title might actually be "Rejoice in the Sun".

Silent Running Original Soundtrack Album (LP-81072): Conducted by Peter Schickele, songs sung by Joan Baez. Originally released as Decca DL7-9188, later available on reissue by Varese Sarabande on a green LP. Unfortunately, this recording is no longer available. (Please note that this is on vinyl.)
However, the theme track from Silent Running is on a Silva Screen 4-CD compilation set available at Amazon.
About the song “Rejoice In The Sun”:
In late-1971, Joan Baez united with composer Peter Schickele to record two tracks ("Rejoice in the Sun" and "Silent Running") for the science fiction opus, Silent Running. The film's releasing company, Universal Studios, hoped either would prove to be a hit single, but the film proved to be unsuccessful, and plans to release the songs as singles were scratched.
In a 2003 episode of the HBO series "Six Feet Under", a character, after watching the film Silent Running, comments "I've always loved Joan Baez." Joan's song "Rejoice In The Sun" can be heard in the background. |
