Might have been mentioned before by someone else... if it did, I apologize for "stealing" the idea.
Action Day.
'nuff said.
Matrix, Terminator, Die Hard, Rambo, Lethal Weapon... you get the idea.
As for a specific date... I just pulled Wednesday, August 1 out of a hat.
Anyone interested? _________________ "Welcome to the paranoia club; cheapest fees in the universe and membership lasts forever."

I voted yes. JERIC really wants it to be an annual type of thing. If you want August 1 to be our annual action day, that's cool. What about election day in November though (I know, I know, stateside only). Maybe it will encourage everyone to "take action" and vote?

Oh.
Like I said, I pulled the date out of a hat. I didn't realize it was to mean on that particular date each year.
So if anyone thinks another day of the year would be better... suggest and debate it! _________________ "Welcome to the paranoia club; cheapest fees in the universe and membership lasts forever."

We could use the release date of Raiders of the Lost Ark, June 12 (1981)? |

We could but aren't we a bit late? Like over due and everything?
Or are you referring to the new Indie movie that is just starting to be made?
At any rate, June is past, we are ready to rumble now!! _________________ A good sound track will let me relive the movie, I can cry over them as well. Hand me the tissues...please. |

No, it's called planning for next year. If we assign all of the event days to dates in 2007, it's going to be a long winter and spring next year without some of the better event days.

I'm pretty sure that the new film is neither titled "Raiders of the Lost Ark," nor are they somehow going back in time to release it in 1981.

See above. Not all of the event days needs to be between now and the end of the year. Remember, these are supposed to be annual events. There's no rush.

Another idea for the date would be Nov 5...
"Remember remember the fifth of November..."
and all that.
It would be November like BQ thought would be good, it already has a catchy slogan that's easy to remember... and it wouldn't be quite so far in the future as June 12! _________________ "Welcome to the paranoia club; cheapest fees in the universe and membership lasts forever."

Thank you Grenadier for all your logic explained. Makes much better sense to me now! I surely could not see where you were going, other than laying plans for next year!
thanks.
I am tickled how much discussion and planning we are about with a day for good music! _________________ A good sound track will let me relive the movie, I can cry over them as well. Hand me the tissues...please. |

Yeah, but that quote, the original rhyme, doesn't really have anything to do with action movies. It has to do with ONE action movie, so I don't think it's really that much of a mnemonic. I mean, it could stand for Mask Day, or Parliament Day, or well, I don't know, Gunpowder Day.
Of course, Bond films tend to come out in November, so the month is probably a good one. |

I'd love an Action Day! I actually dare to suggest three days - June 1, July 1, August 1 - for the full enjoyment of summer! _________________ 03 Feb 10 - 18:21:14 > taryn: LD Yes mooooood music Cool |
