I propose a day for soundtracks related to animated movies (movies from studios like Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, Aardman, etc.).
I suggest February 4th to be the date, because that's when in 1938 the first full length Disney movie (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) was released in the US.

I say, this is an awesome idea
That would of course include scores from the Ghibli movies (Gedo Senki, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, The Cat Returns, ...) as well as many anime scores (Blood+, Steamboy, Escaflowne, ...) _________________ "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" - Blade Runner |

Hrm... would this include video game scores, or do they get a separate day?
EDITED: Ah, yes, I see from the other topics that they would. Okay, then. |

I love this idea!
A lot of various composers did animated films - from Menken to Goldsmith, from Hisaish to Zimmer, and so on. I'm not familiar with anime except Ghibli, but it seems they have various styles of music. This day would have good diversity.
And Snow White day idea is nice too _________________ Miya the Pridelander

This would be fun. We have so much anime here with many, many tracks that we never hear (unless SAM picks them). Good suggestion. |

These is the second full length animation movie, the firts cell movie yes, but not the first animation movie. I think it is not the correct day.
I proposed another days:
- The first animation exhibition. I think is Gertie the Dinosaur.
- The first animation with sound. I think is Mickey in the river cartoon. |

I suggested February 4th because it was the first long movie (84 minutes) by Disney.
(Disney is very much associated with animation)
The movies you mentioned are 12 and 7 minutes long.
If JERIC wants it on the release date of one of the movies you mention I'm happy with that. _________________ The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on Flying: The knack of throwing yourself at the ground and miss.

I repeat, the first long animated movie, is not made by Disney. 20 year before, argertinan was made the first long movie, El Apostol with 70 minutes. In 1917, premiere on November 9. Unfortunately, the film was lost in 1926 in one fire.
Hollywood promotion machinery forgive these for his interes. They rewrite the history for benefit for they and becouse the promotion machinery is more strong, almost think they say true.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, is not the fisrt, not the second and not he third animated long movio. Could be the firts cell animation type long movie, but not the first animation movie. Also I think is the first animation long movie in color.
In 1926, in germany was made Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed and in france made in 1930 (but premiere in 1937) Le Roman de Renard. Luckyly, these two are not lost.
I proposed in alternative to Disney false first long animation movie, for not continuting the false history, two historicaly and critical for animation history, important animation dates. The first animation, and the firts animation with sound.
And one thing, cartoons can be short, but the music in they is very important and are very good compositions. Remenber Mancini's Pink Panther, Betty Boop songs, Disney's Silly Symphonies, Merry Melodies... I don't refuse short compositions for cartoon series.

I love the idea and am impressed by the research done concerning the first animation! Well done. I vote yes. _________________ I do not wake up with thoughts of control and rebellion, but thoughts of purpose and righteousness and the empowerment to fulfill those convictions that define me. |

You made your point.
I knew about that movie as it is mentioned in the wikipedia page of Snow White. Although I didn't know it before I read that.
But you didn't get my point.
The date I proposed was that of the first animation movie that was produced by Disney and qualified as long.
I'm not at all implying that Disney made the first long animation movie.
I chose to ignore other earlier long animation movies, because a large percentage of the visitors of this website is from the United States, the website is based in the United States and Disney is from the United States. _________________ The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on Flying: The knack of throwing yourself at the ground and miss.
