I'm not exactly happy about this, though it is JERIC's call. I think Purple Rain is a film soundtrack and belongs here. I know it falls into the "musical grey area," but I still think it should be here. Yes, we all worship score, but songs can be a vital part of a soundtrack as well, and some are just downright essential. I speak of Top Gun, for instance. Some of those songs are just so identified with the movie, how could you not have them on a soundtrack site?
Ah, I'm rambling. I don't know why the loss of Purple Rain has upset me so, I don't like it that much. Maybe I worry that anything with words will eventually be banned from this site. Can a song exist on both? Because "Original Sin," from the soundtrack for The Shadow, should also be on 80s.
And I like Buffy. Take that, haters! |

I love the Top Gun soundtrack. I would most definitely hate to see it go. I worry that there will be new people that look for this stuff and get disappointed at it's absence. I do trust JERIC and his opinion. I'm sure he will do what he feels is best for SST.

The 2 star rating for purple rain also had a influence on my decision and the fact that it played way to often.

Nate did not play the song not be mentioned by berlin.. He could not of.. I wont believe it..it must be photo shop.. although i can remember seeing ques like that sometimes on friday morning

I'm a 80s (and 70s) guy, but I agree with JERIC in his decision. While 80s songs are Simply Fabulous, they are off-message for SST...
