Hi, French (speaking) Folks of SST Community !

... supppose we need your help today. 29th CINEMED (24th Oct - 4th Nov) is on it's half through and a 1st resume can be done.

An English website under French domain (http://www.cinemed.tm.fr ) ?? - O.K. it exists. But, bad, bad, bad entry. Hours of Flash animation loading. Horrible Site. And "Translation" seems not worth to take 100%.

This link overjumps I suppose is the easierst entry...
http://www.cinemed.tm.fr/cgi-bin/newtest.pl?name=2_1&rubrique=programme&lng=en&titre=Programme+%3E+Infos

Anyhow...

What's about Mediterranian Film scores, from Barcelona/Spain, cross the street of Gibraltar to Marokk/North Africa going Eastern to Israel. - Montpelier France where the CINEMED takes place let surprise us this year.

The director of the film festival: "2007 is set by a new way of filmmakeing to set a new >time dimesion<". (Rec.: This remembers me to Sten Nadolny. Ever read this phantastic book "Discovery of the Slowlyness" ?? Take it, it is worth to read double or triple... (Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sten_Nadolny ). The key figure in this semi-biographical book is John Franklin ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Franklin ).)

Back to CINEMED '07.

The mass of Awards let hope, European and especialla Mediterranian films can have an impact internationally... Hollywood, here we come !! - Take action.

The selection of films seems fresh...

I looked around on the site for trailers to get some impressions about the film music. Bud didn't found. Maybe you of SST have more luck...

Enjoy good music ! - Greetings from Europe/Germany/Hamburg - ElJay.

Press release / Newsletter 108 - dated: 5 November
+++++++++++++++++++++
The 29th edition of the Montpellier Mediterranean Film Festival ended on Sunday November 4th 2007.

It's always difficult to review the Festival when it has just finished—between the last film shown and the benefits to come. However, an increase in attendance has been felt this year, shown by effervescence at the venues and considerable interest of filmgoers in all parts of the programme, without exception. But of course our happiness as organisers of a festival like this will only be complete when some of the films chosen—and not only the award-winners—have found a distributor in France and hence a larger public.

Here are a few figures: the 29th Montpellier Film Festival hosted 221 official guests, 222 professionals and a hundred journalists. The programme featured 206 films (feature, short, documentary and experimental), 2 exhibitions, 1 cine-concert, 1 musical theatre show, 2 symposiums, 1 conference on digital arts and many round-tables that more than 86 000 people attended (including 7 800 pupils for the "Young People's Festival" held from October 15th to the 25th and the 400 high-school students who came for the "Lycée Classes"), that is to say a substantial 15% increase in comparison with 2006.

23 prizes and special distinctions have been awarded for all the sections for a total amount of more than €100,000 in cash, aid and services. On November 1st and 2nd, 13 Development Aid Grant film projects were defended and 6 prizes and 1 special distinction were awarded.

Our thanks go to all our guests, both faithful friends and newcomers, who contributed generously. In the warm shadow of the great Mario Monicelli who took us in once again, Pierre Salvadori was convincing with his passion as a film-loving filmmaker. Natacha Laurent, director of the Cinémathèque de Toulouse was the tough president of a jury with the humour of Fellag and Jean Benguigui, the charm of Catriona MacColl and the renaissance of Egyptian cinema personified by Marwan Hamed. Abdellatif Kechiche and the young actress Hafsia Herzi set the house on fire. Jacques Grandclaude rendered justice to Roberto Rossellini and Henri Talvat to Vicente Aranda. Finally, Aurore Clément was radiant in a gentle but nonetheless apocalyptic closing session!
