And what's about book publishings with the deep going focus onto "film scores" ?? - Watching DVDs, hanging around at YouTube.com and pulling a lot of video datas onto the PC is one thing of learning, getting access to new informations quickly. But still books are a huge (re)source for knowledge hungry fellows.
Might be interesting, hm... (??) - Today I got a news about an easy access for downloading an eBook "FROM THE CLASSROOM TO THE SCORING STAGE" (Author: Sean McMahon). See the next posting following this 1st one.
Such themes like learning by book reading about "resources for those who are looking to gain experience working with a film composer" and many different other interesting topics can still be found in books (made of paper), e.g.
- history of film music
- (self) biographies of film composers
- different styles of film composing
(orchestral, electronic music, ...for documentaries/animes ...)
- new developments in film composing
(e.g. electronic music, software programmes for composing & editing, job profiles, international markets)
- documentaries of world class film projects (and the relevance of film music hereby)
etc. etc. etc. ....
Isn't this interesting to share here ?
So be free to post here books which will be published soon, or just have been published. Important: NEW PUBLISHINGS. And the focus: (all around) FILM MUSIC.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR - JACK SMALLEY
Jack Smalley studied composition at the Conservatoire de Musique in Paris France with Edmond Marc and Darius Milhaud. Studied Serial Composition with George Tremblay in Los Angeles. He is currently Professor of Film Composition at University of Southern California and member of permanent faculty at the Aspen Summer Music Festival. Jack also headed the Composition Program at the Henry Mancini Institute.
Jack Smalley has served as orchestrator on films including The Assassination of Richard Nixon, The Mothman Prophecies, Last of the Mohicans, Curley Sue, The Gladiator, The Peacemaker, Red Dawn, Conan the Barbarian, Steel Magnolias, The Pickup Artist, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, Popeye, and Oh God.
