Hey, this actually stinks! I'm sorry, I know it doesn't really mean anything in the real world, but somehow this doesn't seem fair. Why did this happen?

My guess is we had too many higher ranks. It's happened before, and will happen again. You're still above/below the same people you were above/below before. Hopefully that lessens the impact some.

I know I'm being petty. I get that. It just feels like a slap. You get so far, it's an accomplishment, and to have it knocked down like that makes me feel like my posts don't matter to anyone.

I'll get over it, eventually. But for now, I'm actually, surprisingly, hurt.

Well while I can't do anything about the ranking situation, I would like to say that I do enjoy reading your posts. You make great comments and give good insight. I don't always agree with you, but your posts are always worthwhile and well thought out. Might not be much of a consolation, but I thought I would at least let you know. Very Happy

Ditto on Nate's comment, LadyI. Please continue!
I don't pay much attention to ranks - just the content of the post. Yours are always awesome!

Speaking of posts... why am I "commander" again?
The number of posts for certain ranks have been lifted... Sad

We can do like certain people I used to know did in school. (Yes, it's been a while, but I found it sooo exasperating I never got over it. Razz)

We simply take a look at whatever it is the last person has written, and rephrase it cleverly.
That gigantic mental effort will increase our number of posts and earn approving nods from persons in authority.

For example:

Well, of course you're free to disagree with me, but I think (and I'm sure I'm not alone in that) it would be a great idea to make the destruction of the SST Bar into a regular -- or at least semi-regular... or occasional... or annual -- occurence. "Why should we do this?" the doubters among us ask.
It should be obvious to all intelligent beings on SST, pardon me for saying so. The idea behind the destruction of the SST Bar is for us to have a reason to throw a broom to nate, so he can perform his duty to keep SST clean to the best of his abilities!!! We all win! We get to destroy, nate gets to clean... over and over again, therefore making SST a better place!

Always remember: it has to be longer than the original, and tell us nothing (or very little) new.

Because of all the things in the world to be upset about, your forum ranking takes the cake.

I heard a rumour that if you reach Commodore this time, you get a REAL ship???

Okay, I'm better now. Thank you nate and Two for your encouraging compliments. Knowing that someone actually reads what I have written is way more important than how much ink I've spilled (so to speak).

(Sings like Dory:) Just keep posting, just keep posting, just keep posting, posting posting...

I should at least hit 400 soon, which is pretty good. Now on to things that are worth getting upset about, like why I can't get a daemon for Christmas.

Okay. Whew. 400 posts. I should be a commander again very soon.

Y'know what can be a bit, well, sad-making? Clicking on "Your Posts" under the Forums tab, and realizing how many threads end with one of your posts. You feel like you've killed so many conversations. Sometimes that happens in chat, too. You say something, and there's no movement for five minutes or so. Like one of those dropped cel phone call commercials.

Or as my sisters are fond of saying, "Who brought the cool kid?"
